Singer / songwriter and former TV host Johnny Young will be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
The man behind the long-running talent show Young Talent Time will be recognised for his musical career, including writing The Real Thing, Smiley and The Star. He also recorded Step Back, Cara-Lyn and All My Loving, the theme to his Channel 0 show.
65 year old Young, who is already inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame, is attributed as discovering Tina Arena, Debra Byrne, Jamie Redfern and Danni Minogue.
Hes still owns his national chain of Johnny Young Talent Schools and, based in Perth, works breakfast radio for local classic hits station 6iX.
“I’m very proud of what I did musically. I still have a band and I still perform with my band,” he said.
Also being inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame are John Williamson, Models, The Loved Ones and The Church.
SBS will host the event, fronted by Julia Zemiro in late October.

I kind of agree with John, but do feel that Williamson is definitely overdue, and a worthy recipient – The Church? It is subjective – there are so many great bands and performers in this country that have achieved a great deal over many decades. Johnny Young is an odd one – but i get the history, and the significance of his contribution.
Congratulations! Good news 😀
Well overdue for Mr Young,The Church.
J.Williamson is a matter of taste.Torture for me personally.
