Eddie to host new National IQ Test

Eddie McGuire will host a new-look National IQ Test special for the Nine Network.

Eddie McGuire will host a new-look National IQ Test special for the Nine Network.

He will be joined by Livinia Nixon.

McGuire hosted the first Test Australia: The National IQ Test that aired in 2003, assisted by Catriona Rowntree.

The show rated through the roof.

Viewers participated in the Test by using a form that was published in daily newspapers. Now seven years later, it will employ the same technique, as well as testing 200 people in Australian capital cities, including Hobart, Canberra and Darwin.

It will air later this year.

  1. Not happy Eddie-
Feeling like I have been lulled into a false sense of security here. I went to Murdoch University a few weeks ago to sit for your new show and to make a mark in Australia. (Came from NSW 20 years ago). Figured that we are a little bit behind over here in the West, but this was ridiculous.
We watched the ‘National IQ Test’ last night to see how we would go and of course how smart we are over here!
We enjoyed the show, apart from the usual ‘stuffing around and adverts’ (the show could have run for an hour) Until……
    What a joke-
I got excited as you posted the ‘smartest state’. Well, blow me down if-as per usual- WA weren’t even in it. Now, I can semi understand that you had the test going over the internet, but we over here were ‘privileged’ to sit this test at Murdoch University weeks ago-
I am Very disappointed and doubt I will watch it Or millionaire hot seat ever again. What a shame that as usual the “Victorians” screw up and ignore us from over here- Was thinking about coming over in the footy season to watch a few games of AFL, but might as well stay here and watch a game at “Patterson Stadium” or if you didn’t know over there, we have changed the name from Subiaco Oval.
    Yours, Not Sincerely

  2. I thought it was really good TV. I am not lying when I say that this was the thing I was anticipating most from Nine when they released their 2010 programming lineup. It’s good to see that they are still going ahead with it.

I would have scheduled it for a Tuesday night, but I don’t know if they will do it because they are fastracking Survivor. I guess they could have a double episode week. Tuesday is definitely the best day for Nine to screen a high rating special.

This should rate the roof once again. At least 1.7m over the three hours. I reckon this is guaranteed unless they put it on a night that has Junior MasterChef playing.

  3. And just like last time, by tuning in you automatically fail 🙂

Seriously, though, that last one was interminably long and dumb. Just for the fun of it, I grabbed the response sheet off their web site, played the 3-hour thing back off the PVR, skipped everything Livinia and everything Eddie except the questions, and had everything done inside half an hour. The result was that I was in the top 2% of the population IQ-wise. Obviously they forgot to account for the many scientists, surgeons, computer programmers etc out there. But ah well, it’s all about making you like Nine after all (didn’t work for me, by the way 😉
