New boss at Nine Queensland

Kylie Blucher, Programming and Marketing Manager, of Channel Nine Queensland is promoted to Managing Director.

Kylie Blucher, Programming and Marketing Manager, of Channel Nine Queensland was promoted to Managing Director on Friday. She has held senior management roles within the Nine Network for more than 15 years.

“Kylie is an outstanding executive with a distinguished record at Nine and person who’s held in great regard by everyone she deals with in our business,” CEO David Gyngell said.

“Kylie’s understanding of the Queensland market is second to none. She has the empathy required to lead a large, diverse team and the knowledge and passion to drive the Nine Network’s future success in Queensland.”

Blucher said, “This restructure will allow QTQ to build on our recent ratings resurgence through a more defined management structure. We have taken some significant steps forward in 2010 through community re-engagement and I look forward to working closely with our clients and the broader corporate market to strengthen relationships within the south-east Queensland market.”

She begins the role from October 1st.

Meanwhile Les Hart, Managing Director, Sales & Operations at QTQ, will return to Sydney to take up the role of Sales Director of Nine’s second digital multi-channel, due to be launched soon.

  1. Kuttsy, be real mate, I do not think 10 will streak into #1 at 6:30 simply because there is an extra half hour of local production. TT from BTQ’s news studio wasn’t #1 for all the time they persisted with it.

  2. hope that technical improvements are on the agenda, 9 in QLD is plauged with audio problems and GO has had several instances of completely freezing for hours. The equipment in QLD needs serious repairs.

  3. The more women making into the senior executive ranks at Nine the better. Half the audience are women, but Nine and Seven still seem very blokey in their decision making style and substance. I hope appointments like this help. Now for some women in programming…..

  4. Blucher’s promotion is a big step, in the right direction. Nine in Queensland has really spearheaded the idea of reporters using social media, with most people in the newsroom now on Twitter, inc. weekday anchors.

Recent news results are a testament to this, but will Nine make a heavy investment, in QLD, if 6:30 next year fell to 10 (which is the likely scenario, due to the fact there has been no locally produced content in the 6:30 slot in SEQ, since the local TT was axed by 7 in 2003)

    Only time will tell.
