New series from Darren Star
ABC, CBS and NBC are all said to be interested in a new Darren Star series. And wait 'til you see its title.

Don’t mind me. I’m still getting over the demise of Grosse Pointe, Darren Star’s cathartic series on his years running Beverly Hills 90210. It was ahead of its time….
Star is now developing a new series Good Christian Bitches, which will be written by Steel Magnolias and The First Wives Club writer Robert Harling (very good credentials indeed!).
Based on the book of the same name by Kim Gatlin, the project is said to be wanted by ABC, CBS and NBC.
It centres on Amanda Vaughn, a recently divorced mother of two who, to get a fresh start, moves back to the affluent Dallas neighborhood where she grew where she finds herself in the whirling midst of salacious gossip, Botox, and fraud.
Star is best known for Sex and the City, Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place.
The series is being referred to by some as ‘Desperate Housewives in Dallas’. And maybe a little bit Weeds?

Oh Grosse Point, how I miss thee! Why open that old wound David?
Grosse Point was great. Love all this guys work, even the lesser known one’s like Central Park West and Cashmere Maffia. I think the new show’s title is a bit too strong though. They may have to rework that.
Best title ever.
Let HBO, Showtime or even AMC get their hands on this. No doubt they will do it more justice than ABC, NBC or CBS.
Can’t wait to see what the Christian Right in the States do with this one … much wailing and gnashing of teeth!
I hate the title. It is gimmicky and offensive.
Grosse Pointe!! oh my, ‘ahead of its time’ Indeed !!
This would make a much better fit on a basic or premium cable network in the US, not a free to air one.
Sensational title. Inspired.
This could be good. I loved Grosse Pointe but it was never going to last poking fun at sacred cows.
Grosse Pointe was a superb show
Sounds great. What a fabulous title!
I’d go with NBC. CBS will axe the best cast, and make it a crime procedure after some “retooling”. ABC will axe is in its prime (see Better off Ted), and keep other rubbish on in its place.
me2. i Loved Gross Point. Have watched the boxset about 10 times.
and dont start me on Central Park West 🙁
I’m looking forward to it. I’ve never met a Darren Star series I didn’t like :-).
