Renewed: Law and Order: Criminal Intent (just)

The Dick Wolf drama gets one last series, but who is in and who is out?

Law & Order: Criminal Intent has been renewed for a tenth and final season.

The USA Network has ordered eight episodes.

Vincent D’Onofrio will continue on the show, but the network is still negotiating with several other performers, including Jeff Goldblum who replaced Chris Noth two years ago.

The crime procedural had a major casting shakeup earlier this year, with Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian exiting the series and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Saffron Burrows joining.

Jeff Wachtel, president original programming at USA said “Dick (Wolf) and his team promise to create a major event for television with incredible surprises. The plan is for this to be the series finale, but with a Dick Wolf franchise, one really never knows until it’s over.”

The final season begins in the US next year.

  1. @ryan = totally agree. Jeff Goldblum, in particular, is a shocking, no talent actor, with Vincent not far behind. CI is my least favourite of the Law and Order franchise. I’m amazed it has lasted 10 years, to be honest

  2. I’m thrilled that Vincent is coming back, he is a fantastic actor, and I can’t wait to see CI again, as I stopped when he and Kathryn Erbe left. I only hope that she returns as well, they make a great team. Shame it’s only 8 episodes. I wonder what will happen to Saffron Burrows?

  3. Conversely I love ’em both – brilliant actors.

Not sure splitting eight episodes over three leads is a great idea, though, and curious to see how they are gonna bring Goren back. Interesting to see…
