Seven Network reporter Mike Duffy is suing ABC’s Media Watch for defamation following its report on Monday night.
Media Watch criticised Duffy’s story on a security breach in Delhi, ahead of the Commonwealth Games, describing it as a “shocking beat up.” ABC alleged he had acquired a fake detonation unit and that his suitcase supposedly carried across security lines was empty.
But Seven has defending Duffy’s story, saying he was in possession of a full remote detonation kit for 24 hours and that he did walk into a secure area with a case containing detonation components.
Rival network Nine replayed most of Media Watch‘s story on A Current Affair last night.
Media Watch is currently hosted by Paul Barry (pictured) whilst Jonathan Holmes is on long service leave.
