Steve Bisley ordered to community service

Actor Steve Bisley was yesterday ordered to perform 300 hours of community service  in the Downing Centre Local Court.

The 58 year old was found guilty last week of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against his ex-wife publicist Sally Burleigh.

He had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court heard the former Sea Patrol actor lost work as a result of the incident, including an appearance on Celebrity MasterChef.

The magistrate said Bisley’s actions were “in the mid range of gravity” for this type of assault and Ms Burleigh’s injuries “were not the worst but certainly not the most trivial”.

Lawyers have previously said he is expected to appeal.
