The Robert Franklin Show

Renowned thespian, 'Sir Robert Franklin', takes a behind-the-scenes peek at the next series of The Librarians.

Ok it’s not really a show, so much as an online behind-the-scenes peek at the next series of The Librarians.

The ABC comedy will return in October.

Bob Franklin assumes the role of Sir Robert Franklin, renowned thespian, who looks at the making of the comedy at ‘Midleton Interactive Learning Centre’ as only he can….litigiously.

  1. @ Danness: I agree it is an acquired taste comedy, not sure how it has made it either, but it strikes a cord and the characters I agree can be unlikeable, but something makes me laugh.
@ Secret Squirrel Nighty Night was appalling I watched the first season and couldn’t bring myself to watch the 2nd. 1 season was enough, somethings were just cringeworthy.
I find Librarians much lighter and shocking in the ploitically incorrect way in aims to challenge.
Well Done to Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope and the gang!

  2. @Dave – I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. While I can appreciate the quality of the writing and the acting is fine, I just don’t particularly enjoy watching The Librarians. And yes, Robyn Butler’s character is part of the reason – she’s just so unlikable, like Julia Davis’ character in Nighty Night. However, I have so far loved all of Chris Lilley’s stuff altho’ I can see why you and none of my friends or family do.

  3. The Librarians is for me a different form of comedy in this country – it is narratively driven but without obvious gags and punch lines. It does seem to polarize people as far as I can ascertain – the leading character is often excrutiating – but for me that is the beauty of it and her! Comedy is subjective – i couldn’t stomach Chris Lillie, but love the Librarians. Different horses for courses.

  4. billy balakalai – don’t make assumptions about people you don’t know. I think Two and a Half Men is one of the worst shows on television.

I’m not the only person of the opinion that The Librarians isn’t funny. There’s many more out there. I know comedy is subjective, and that some people like the show. I don’t. You don’t have to attack me for having an opinion.

  5. Yeah I watched the first few episodes and didn’t even smile once. Can’t be too bad if Tony Martin is involved, but still can’t see myself giving it a second chance.

  6. @Danness Just because you don’t find something funny, doesn’t mean that it isn’t funny. It all depends on personal preference and/or the lack of a sense of humour.

  7. How exactly has The Librarians managed to make it to a third season? The episodes I saw (the entire first season and the first two episodes of the second) were almost completely devoid of anything that would make me laugh. I like my comedies to be funny.
