Liam Bartlett will interview Deborah Harry for 60 Minutes this Sunday.

Harry was the shining lead singer of Blondie, best known for such songs as “Heart of Glass,” “Hanging on the Telephone”, “Call Me,” “Atomic” and “The Tide is High.”

She was the seventies Princess of Punk and the star of a generation of male fantasies. It’s hard to believe that Debbie Harry, the bombshell lead singer of Blondie, is now 65 years old. Given her well documented drug habit, it’s hard to believe she’s even alive. But, somehow, she not only survived the craziness, she’s still performing. And, all these years later, she’s still one of the coolest people on the planet.

The Cruel Sea
It happened in a heartbeat. One moment Elise and Nicholas Sherry were splashing around in the water. The next they were being pulled out to sea, waves crashing over their heads. Somehow the kids made it back to shore but their parents died trying to save them. Hail Mary!
It’s a proud time for our five million Catholics. On October 17, Australia will finally get its own fair dinkum saint when Sister Mary MacKillop’s canonised in Rome. Among the thousands witnessing the event will be a little girl who owes our newest Saint more than most. As a two-year-old, Sophie Delezio lost both feet and received terrible burns when a car crashed into her child care centre. Then two-and-a-half years later, she was hit by another car. All through those dark days, Sophie’s parents Ron and Carolyn prayed to Mary MacKillop. They believe Saint Mary saved their little girl’s life, not once, but twice.
