Airdate: Rip Curl Pro Search

Surfing fans will be hooked to see if Kelly Slater can win an “impossible” 10th world crown, airing on FUEL TV from Saturday.

FUEL TV will air the Rip Curl Pro Search in Puerto Rico live from Saturday, a key event in the ASP World Title.

Surfing fans will be hooked to see if Kelly Slater, nine-time ASP World Champion and current ASP World No. 1, can win an “impossible” 10th world crown.

Only young South African and current World No. 2, Jordy Smith, is said to be in his way.

For Slater to clinch his historic 10th ASP title in Puerto Rico, the following scenarios must occur:

* If Slater finishes Equal 3rd or better, he clinches the 2010 ASP World Title.
* If Slater finishes Equal 5th or Equal 9th, Smith must win the event to send the ASP World Title Race to Hawaii.

Essentially, if the 22-year-old fails to finish higher than Equal 5th, Slater claims the 2010 ASP World Title. Given his familiarity with the venue, the iconic Floridian is looking as dangerous as ever.

The Rip Curl Women’s Pro Search Puerto Rico, the penultimate event on the 2010 ASP Women’s World Tour, also boasts the potential of seeing a champion crowned.

Reigning three-time ASP Women’s World Champion and current ASP Women’s World No. 1, Australian Stephanie Gilmore, is aiming to become the first-ever surfer to claim four ASP World Titles from four attempts.

FUEL TV will provide Live and Exclusive coverage of the full men’s event and will take viewers Live to the women’s final if Gilmore is in the hunt to clinch the title.

It airs on FUEL TV from October 30 to November 10.

  1. There is no question Slater will win the title. He’s the ultimate competitive surfer. I would be suprised if he didnt take it in Puerto Rico. But if by some chance it comes down to Pipeline, Slater will dominate, In my opinion hes the best at Pipe since Gerry Lopez

    KSX coming soon

  2. Another choice – Slater wins number 10 at Puerto Rico and we all marvel at the freak…if we remember to watch. Or, he is forced through to the next round and we watch Slater make surfing history at the iconic Pipeline – surrounded by the Black Shorts and all God’s fury. Really, it’s no choice at all so it will be very interesting to see how the judges score at Puerto Rico. It’s all completely subjective and both events will be fantastic to watch. Slater sh*ts me to tears but he is the best ever. Watching the deciding event will be the same as watching Bradman score his last century. Freaks from their planet only visit Earth once in a lifetime.
