Al Pacino is set to portray fallen record producer Phil Spector in a telemovie for HBO.
Spector, who worked with the likes of Ike and Tina Turner, John Lennon, George Harrison, and the Ramones, was sentenced to a minimum of 19 years for the murder of Lana Clarkson.
The script is to be written and directed by David Mamet. Barry Levinson will executive produce. Pacino and Levinson recently worked on the telemovie You Don’t Know Jack, with Pacino winning an Emmy for his role as Jack Kevorkian.
Spector, known for a fiery temper throughout his music career, went through three attorneys in his first murder trial, which ended in a mistrial.
Pacino also appeared in Angels in America for HBO.

Pacino.= most over rated actor ever.
Is the reason they call him a great character actor, because he only ever plays one character?
Pacino has a few other pending projects as well – a comedy currently filming he is in called Jack and Jill which also features Adam Sandler…also a crime drama in post production called The Son Of No One also starring Ray Liotta, Tracey Morgan and Channing Tatum…also rumours that Martin Scorsese will direct The Irishman, a mafia film which could possibly star Pesci, De Niro and Pacino.
looking forward to this – You Don’t Know Jack was very good, with a powerful performance from Pacino
A good choice but who will play the young Spector?
