CBS trims Medium order

CBS has cut the episode order for the seventh season of Medium from 22 to 13 episodes.

The bad news for Medium continues with word that CBS has cut the episode order for the seventh season from 22 to 13 episodes.

The decision to cut back will now allow the network to schedule upcoming midseason series such as CIA drama Chaos and new spinoff Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior.

The news shouldn’t really come as a big surprise given it was cancelled last year by original network NBC. At the time, CBS referred to the decision as “inexplicable” and it picked up the Patricia Arquette drama.

The trim signals fears that season 7 will be the last for the paranormal drama.

In Australia TEN dropped the series from the current schedule following disappointing ratings this week.

  1. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I love Medium, but it’s just not the sort of show I could watch week-in week-out. It’s too same-y, and the formula isn’t flexible enough to keep the series fresh for very long. But when I do wind up watching it, I find myself enthralled for an hour. The chemistry between the family is fantastic, and honestly, you’d have to be cold and humourless to not appreciate Maria Lark’s charming on-screen persona (however badly acted it may be). 13 episode seasons are more than enough for this sort of show.

  2. So another axing by 10…why can’t they put it on late at night?…hopefully it can go to ch 11 without the threat of it disappearing off our screens….

  3. That’s as good as confirmed its gone. 7 seasons is pretty solid work though… Can’t say it didn’t have a good run. Hopefully it ends on a good note 🙂

  4. might be time for me to prepare for an axing 🙁 oh well it had a good run, although last season focused too much on her husband and his mundane problems at work..

  5. Ten dropped it?!?! Why did they have to air season 7 now? They could have waited til next year and put it in it’s usual Thursday timeslot after SVU!!!

Though I personally think the show will work better with less episodes… 22 does seem too long.
