Foxtel’s games coverage on the rise

The Commonwealth Games may be making up some lost ground on TEN, but on Foxtel the Games are doing nicely.

  1. Predicting a $60 Early bird and $75 fee (two months out from the games) for the London Olympics. Won’t be surprised if we do not have to pay this for sports subscribers and I am looking forward to the coverage 🙂

  2. Foxtel’s Games Coverage was superb. Can’t wait for their London 2012 coverage.

Ten just made me angry – especially in the Opening/Closing Ceremonies. I’m sorry but 3 commentators having a lovely chat between each other mispronouncing country names and trying to appear as experts on culture is a total ****.

Just keep the comments short and let us listen to the music and let us soak up the atmosphere for crying out loud!!!!

Proud & happy Foxtel subscriber since 1997.

  3. And all in brilliant HD FTA has thrown HD away and thank god for Foxtel otherwise I would have wasted money on my plasma sorry ONEHD is HD but Foxtel MPEG4 is sooo much better

  4. On those figures, the Games have been a riproaring, tearaway success for Foxtel. I have watched some of their coverage and it has been very good indeed. I subscribed to their extra channels during the recent Winter Olympics and the coverage was brilliant – totally addictive, I watched little else for a fortnight. Foxtel do sports so very well. I doubt whether London games will be a freebie like these Games, but I am more than happy to pay extra for a month to subscribe to extra channels when things like the Olympics are on.

  5. The coverage on Foxtel has been very good. Hopefully they’ve learned their lesson and will make the next big international sporting event (London Olympics?) part of the package for existing sports subscribers as well. Reward your existing subscribers Foxtel and they shall remain loyal.

  6. The Foxtel coverage has been brilliant. They showed everything from start to finish and didn’t miss a single second. Ray Hadley (from the swimming) was a joy to listen to as a commentator, especially during the finals, and Susie and Rebecca did a great job too. And you can’t forget James Bracey, who is just so wonderful to watch. He’s interviews with the swimmers were well done, my favourite being the one with Brent Hayden and Eamon Sullivan.
I thank Foxtel for allowing us to watch for free, and will definitely be buying the London 2012 package if I don’t actually go to the Games 🙂
Will Foxtel be showing the Closing Ceremony Live though?

  7. My family are very happy with the Foxtel coverage. You can watch your favourite sports Live- yippee – or wait for the later replays.
Ray Hadley & team did a great job with the swimming.
Watched all of the fantastic cycling and my only whinge is that the main commenter never shut up……yak yak Yawn !!!

  8. The Commonwealth games have seen good figures on Foxtel because there is nothing else to watch eg. Fox8 went into ‘animation mode’ for 12 days….I’m also an Austar subscriber and I can’t see them either.

  9. Best coverage of the games. TEN’s has been pathetic. So glad Foxtel has joint rights.

    @ John

You needed to pay $20 before the coverage started. It was the best $20 i have spent because 6 channels all Live its fantastic. I hope the same happens for the Olympics in 2 years time. FTA coverage is just poor and pathetic.
