Still no deal for Hamish & Andy

Another special tonight for Hamish and Andy, but they are yet to sign any deal with a network for 2011.

Hamish Blake and Andy Lee are yet to sign any deal with a network for 2011.

“We can tell the truth – we have no major plans,” Blake told the Sunday Herald Sun.

“We’re looking forward to doing the radio show once a week. The nothingness is the exciting bit. It’s only scary at the moment because there is nothing in it, but hopefully by the end of next year we will be looking back at what a fun road it hopefully has been.”

The boys will finish their daily national radio show for Fox FM this year.

“We want to continue to do that to the very last show and then take a big deep breath in and see what happens.”

Learn India with Hamish and Andy airs tonight on TEN.

  1. Can’t believe these talentless muppets are still around. Really lame puerile stuff in the bland Rove mold. Get some nice guys with TV faces and no comedic talent whatsover to muck around playing silly buggers and call it comedy. A national embarrassment spreading their mediocrity beyond our shores like Rove now too. Frightening!

  2. I’m with you Kat – the friendship the guys hvae is what takes it to the next level IMO.

Just last night I was yelling at Andy ‘why do you listen to Hamish you fool’ and that is the beauty of it, their camaraderie.

Oh and guess what, I am 30 and have a ‘full brain’ !!

  3. @Nice One, Plenty of people over 18 and have full brains listen to hamish and andy, therefore you are all wrong… And what do you actually like?? What appeals to your tastes?

  4. They are not gonna get a TV deal because they are rubbish and the so called specials are full of talentless drivel….. I listened to their radio show for a while….but that is also crap.

    Keep them off TV

  5. I am also well over 18 and think these boys are fantastic. They’re genuinely funny guys, and the humour stems from their friendship which is why it plays so well with viewers/listeners. Their specials rate really well, as I hope this one does and I hope they do more of them! Changing them up too much would be a big mistake; but letting their sillyness from the radio spread to TV in the same form is proving very good viewing! 🙂

  6. Nothing wrong with a bit of silliness. I’m over 18 and have more than half a brain (probably) but I have liked a lot of what they’ve done over the years. Humour is much more a matter of taste than some other things.

  7. Just because you don’t think that they’re funny, doesn’t mean they’re not. Do you know what a sense of humour is? Everybody has different tatses and just because you don’t like something that doesn’t mean that the people who do are idiots. Just out of interest; what do you Hamish & Andy haters consider to be funny?

& Yes, Hamish & Andy did have their own show several years back, but that was before they had their drive radio show so they were virtually unknown…is it a suprise they had low ratings?

  8. It’s not tall poppy Lisa you’d just have to be under 18 to find them appealing in any way. To all mature folk and people with a full brain it’s all just silliness to say the least. And they did have their own show a few years back which flopped badly so I don’t think your ratings figures can be justified.

  9. Jealous much? Some of the comments here seem to indicate that they aren’t funny and don’t rate well. Um, I’m sure my memory serves me correctly in that none of their specials have rated under 1.5 million. And in this new FTA digital channel climate, that is pretty good.

I understand that they don’t appeal to everyone but they clearly do to a lot of the houses with people meters. They aren’t always my cup of tea but I just change the channel if I feel like it. I prefer not to take part in the tall poppy syndrome that some of you seem to have.

  10. Just watched a bit of their special tonight and was thinking to myself who would watch these people? I think they did get their own show a few years ago and it didn’t last very long. The reason why they haven’t got a deal is because they just don’t appeal to people with at least half a brain.

  11. Give the boys their own Tonight Show and see how they go!! If Merrick and Rosso can do a “boys only” type show that even i watched, Hamish and Andy have a stronger chance at success i think!!

  12. Perhaps their very improvisational style which makes them so good on radio, doesn’t translate to television? Good comedies – apart from obvious improv shows like Thank God You’re Here – need careful attention to character and story and perhaps this is not their strong point. They could do a variety type show however…or ‘light entertainment’ as the Logies likes to call it…but without really strong comic ideas that are structured the show might fall flat. I’d personally like to see Hamish collaborate with different people.

  13. “Hamish Blake and Andy Lee are yet to sign any deal with a network for 2011”
So, some good news on TVT, with luck we may never have these talentless inflicted on us ever again… 🙂
