Tiger Woods will be back in Australia this week, for the staging of the 2010 JBWere Australian Masters.
The event will screen on Nine and FOX Sports.
It will be interesting to watch the media’s take on Tiger Woods since his fall from grace, and whether he will still draw an enthusiastic crowd.
NINE:
The strongest field in the event’s 31-year history will tee off in the 2010 JBWere Masters to be broadcast by Nine’s Wide World of Sports from the Victoria Golf Club, from November 11 to 14.
Australia’s top-ranked player, Robert Allenby, who is vying for his third gold winner’s jacket, will face a tough challenge from world No 2 and defending champion, Tiger Woods, Spanish sensation Sergio Garcia, Columbian Camilo Villegas and the 2006 US Open winner, Victorian Geoff Ogilvy.
Woods, Garcia, Villegas, Ogilvy and Allenby have all been placed in the top 15 in the official world golf rankings during 2010. They will be joined by a hot field of leading Australian players including Stuart Appleby, Aaron Baddeley, Greg Chalmers, Mathew Goggin, Matthew Jones, James Nitties, Peter O’Malley, Craig Parry and Peter Senior.
Two of the world’s leading amateurs, Jin Jeong and Matt Jager, have also been invited to play. Jeong, a South Korean living in Australia, is the current British amateur champion.
Nine’s Wide World of Sports will broadcast from the Victoria Club for the four days of the JBWere Masters. The coverage will be hosted by Eddie McGuire and Mark Nicholas, with Nine’s expert commentary team of Ian Baker-Finch, Jack Newton and Wayne Grady. Ian Healy and Tim Sheridan will be out on the course and in the clubhouse.
Nine’s coverage of the JBWere Masters begins with the first round at 12.30pm on Thursday, November 11.
In addition to Nine’s Wide World of Sports coverage, the Today show will broadcast live from the 18th hole at the Victoria Club across the four days of play, bringing viewers all the action as it unfolds around the course. Keen golfer Kerri-Anne Kennerley will also be on the course broadcasting on Thursday and Friday during the tournament.

FOX Sports:
Sport’s most controversial figure, Tiger Woods, returns down under to take on the hottest field ever assembled for the JBWere Masters at Victoria Golf Club this week and Fox Sports will once again follow his every move.
This year’s coverage has been extended for Fox Sports subscribers, with Live coverage of the first and second rounds to commence with the first group to tee off. Amidst the great hype of Woods’ arrival last year, fans were unable to watch live coverage of the former world number one’s first round due to broadcast restrictions.
This year Fox Sports will provide exclusive Live coverage of Thursday’s opening round from 7am AEDST, ahead of Tiger’s much anticipated tee off at 7.27am. Extended coverage will also be provided on day two. This marks the first time in the history of an Australasian Tour event that the morning play on the first two days has been broadcast Live.
Fox Sports will once again become the only destination for golf fans during the tournament, providing exclusive interactive content throughout the broadcast.
As was the case for Tiger’s historic victory at Kingston Heath last November, FOX Sports will empower subscribers to choose their own viewing experience by pressing the red button on their Foxtel or Austar remote control during the action.
Four options will be available from the Golf Active (red button) window, including the main broadcast screen and the following exclusive features:
* The Analyser will provide up-to-date highlights whilst rotating key information such as a full tournament leader board, group tee off times and full player scorecards.
* Player Tracker will feature replays of every televised shot from Tiger Woods and highlights from other star players, enabling fans to follow the tournament’s top drawcards from start to finish.
* Interviews will enable subscribers to hear the thoughts and reaction from the top players before and after their round.
* Highlights will recap all the best shots and biggest moments from each day’s play.
Soames Treffry, Director FOX Sports Channels, said FOX Sports subscribers will be treated to the best coverage of the tournament.
“Fox Sports subscribers will have the best available coverage when it comes to the Australian Masters,” said Treffry.
“FOX Sports will be live on air from the opening tee off on Thursday and Friday for an unsurpassed 10 hours of live coverage each day and will continue to provide fans with the maximum amount of action with fewer breaks from live play than any other broadcaster.”
“Add to that our multi-screen interactive service where viewers can choose via the red button a channel dedicated to Tiger in Player Tracker, interviews with the players, round highlights or up to the minute live stats with the Fox Sports Analyser and it’s an offering second to none.”
The FOX Sports website, www.foxsports.com.au, will once again provide unique content throughout the event, including a live stream from the 16th hole. ‘Live @ 16’ will allow fans without access to television coverage to stay in touch with the Live action. The live stream will begin at 7.30am AEDST on the first and second day of competition.
Fox Sports’ golf analyst Brett Ogle will host a special 2010 JBWere Masters preview edition of The Golf Show at 7.30pm AEDST tomorrow night. Ogle will be joined by Warren Smith, Peter Donegan and renowned USPGA Tour commentator David Marr throughout the Masters telecast on FOX Sports.

John – Dave Marr III works for the Golf Channel in the US and is very much alive.
It says David Marr is coming but im sure he is dead ? He might be a different one but im sure he died
@ Jake, people still watch Days of Our Lives these days? Goodness :O
@Jake – fortunately you can pick the show up a month or two later and it’ll be just the same.
And this, together with cricket, puts us even further behind the US in Days Of Our Lives
@ Armchair Analyst, absolutely textbook plug for ONE HD and NBL right there mate – well done!
i dont like Golf so will not be watching this. Will be watching the iinet NBL Championshop Season on ONEHD
Nine’s coverage last year was 2nd to none, bring it on!
This is how all sports should be covered in Australia. Let the FTA’s show it to their timetable (in SD and delayed like the league on Saturday night) for those that choose not to pay and let Foxtel show the sport the way it should be, live and in HD for those that choose to pay.
Someone better update the nine press release department that Baddeley isn’t playing.
As always, looking forward to Fox Sports’ coverage.
