Rumour: Amazing Race heads to the Outback

Spoilers: Amazing Race Contestants caught up with an Akubra-wearing Phil Keoghan yesterday.

Spoilers:  After a furious day of sightings of The Amazing Race in Sydney yesterday, US contestants are now headed for the Outback.

All-Star contestants caught up with an Akubra-wearing Phil Keoghan at Shelly Beach only to learn they were mid-way through a double leg, meaning nobody was eliminated.

Fans of the show were posting and tweeting their sightings in online forums and blogs (including on TV Tonight) as favourite contestants were spied at Sydney Airport, Circular Quay, the Harbour Bridge, Tall Ships, Manly Ferry, Oceanworld, and Sydney Town Hall.

As one fan said, “I had followed them from the bridge, where I talked to a security guard who had talked to the teams. But I wasn’t going to give up, since I had not seen any teams. So I worked out the clue myself and then went to Sydney town hall where they were due next.

“I have never seen so many backpacks in my life, as well as water bottled and power drinks. The sound and camera teams were all together sitting/lying on the ground. The teams were standing around or sitting chatting to each other. I took some photos discreetly, then went up to Vyxsin and Margie (mum of deaf Luke) and told them that I hoped they did really well.”

Globetrotters ‘Big Easy’ and ‘Flight Time’ were said to be fishing for information on Rex Airlines.

Teams are understood to be departing today via Rex Airlines at 6am and 6:30am.

  1. I was in Sydney on Monday the 22nd of November and whilst I didn’t spot them, 7 of my friends confirmed that they saw Flight Time and Big Easy and Jet and Cord running from the train station along Circular Quay, possibly towards the bridge. How exciting!

  2. Isnt it a coincidence that just when TAR Aus is coming to our screens, TAR USA decides to visit Australia in what will be there longest stay yet? I wonder if Ch7 was able to somehow talk them into coming here?

I would like to think so, which would mean that they mean to air both seasons in prime time and without delay. As it stands, Ch 7 will promote the hell out of TAR Aus when the tennis airs at start of the year, so you can be sure that the australian version will start first week of ratings week. This is thier biggest chance of promotion (viewers) and lessens the chance of rumours going out on who wins.

Will be very interesting to know when we do get to see TAR USA. I just hope, and I think I should be okay, that it dosent get shafted just like American Idol did.

Hopefully this interest in TAR USA will be enough to set the ratings on fire, and get Season 2 filming straight away next winter…

  3. I’m excited on every level for both All Stars and TAR-Oz. Wonder if there’s potential in another country for the All Stars and the Oz teams to meet for a challenge of sorts… Hmmmm…. 🙂
