Seven in NIDA partnership

Seven gives back by announcing sponsorship of The National Institute of Dramatic Art for the next five years.

Seven today announced a Principal Sponsorship of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) for the next five years.

The cash sponsorship will provide for film and television training for NIDA students, access to mentoring with Seven’s creative teams, and upgrading of NIDA’s Reg Grundy Studio.

David Leckie, CEO of Seven said “We’re proud of our commitment to Australian programmes, in particular our terrific track record in the production of successful Australian drama series.

“It’s a natural for us at Seven to support NIDA and its continuing leading role in identifying, nurturing and developing creative, talented young Australians. It’s a great partnership for Seven and NIDA.”

NIDA introduces a new Screen Program in 2011 with advanced skills in acting for film and television and live performance. NIDA’s courses in directing, design and playwriting will also include working across film and television. Di Drew has been appointed as the Institute’s first Head of Screen.

Seven says over 400 NIDA Graduates have been featured on the SEVEN Network in leading roles, as actors, designers and directors.

The announcement comes on the day of the AGM for Seven Media.

  1. As much as this sounds good on paper its nothing but pathetic spin by the Seven Network.
The Abc and Foxtel take way more risk in creative production than any of the commercial networks!

  2. Well, I wouldn’t place much store in the “access to mentoring with Seven’s creative teams” – otherwise, congratulations to Seven. NIDA is really, really important – and the more corporate support they get, the better. Bonus points for offering cold hard cash – well done Seven.

Also, thanks David for reporting this.
