  1. I am hoping that Channel 7, will once again, allow Molly Meldrum to be part of this historic event, considering he was with Hey Hey for a large amount of years.
Bring him back , for the Lights Camera , Party special .

  2. One assumes long time music man Geoff Harvey will surely be there. I couldn’t see his name listed anywhere, although there are so many stars on there it’s hard to tell!

Will definately be looking forward to seeing the special – I reckon Nine should put up some old episodes of their classics afterwards as well.

  3. Glad to see Philip Brady on the list (as well as Mario Milano representing “World Championship Wrestling”), but I agree with TV Scene — Pete Smith was the heart and soul of GTV during the glory days and pretty much took over from Sir Eric Pearce as the public face of the station: I sincerely hope he gets to do the main voiceover during this special’s opening credits.

Also Bruce Mansfield, Rosemary Margan, Judy Ann Stewart, Jimmy Hannan, Ugly Dave Gray, Stuart Wagstaff — they should all be invited too. Also from “Division 4”, Gerard Kennedy and Ted Hamilton.

As this is probably the last hurrah for this whole era of television and Australian entertainment, I hope that some enterprising author comes out with a book on the station’s history, documenting it’s heyday and decline. With the release of the 8 disc “Don Lane Show” box set next month, the best of the GTV era will always be seen in one form or another. Perhaps this new special would be the perfect special feature on a dvd/bluray release in the years to come — it will certainly be a night to remember.

  4. That is an awesome list there. But Nine shouldn’t forget to ask Toni Lamond who was there on GTV9’s opening night in 1957 and was one of many to host IMT over those years and also appeared in many shows since then. It would be great if she could be there on Saturday night as the studio is being farewelled as someone who was there on day one.

  5. It’s an awesome list of names there. But Nine shouldn’t forget Toni Lamond who appeared on GTV9’s opening night in 1957 and hosted IMT on occasions and of course appeared plenty of times on various variety shows. It would be awesome to have there on Saturday as the studio bids farewell.

  6. No internationals? What about the two people who currently hold Nine’s programming schedule together (well, fill in the many holes) – Charlie Sheen and Jim Parsons? Without them, some nights would be mostly test pattern.

  7. No Tony Barber? Tony launched and successfully held one of the big 3 weeknight slots – News/ACA/Sale which was invaluable to Nine over the decades. Sale was pivotal (along with News/ACA) to the success of each evening for the Network. Not to mention the iconic, dulcet tones of Pete Smith – who virtually lived at GTV9 his whole life. They are 2 names I really hope will also be there!

  8. Great to see that Nine is inviting so many people – past and present employees – who worked at GTV 9 in Richmond over the years. Whether they are, or were, “stars” is beside the point – they (and hundreds of others behind the scenes) contributed to the success of Nine in Melbourne and it will an amazing and impressive gathering. So many in the same place at the same time!

  9. I guess it depends on how old you are, and whether nostalgia is important to you. There are some interesting names from the various decades. Mickey de Stoop was a journo and presenter from the early 70’s. Mike Walsh, The Newtons, Somers are iconic figures in the live entertainment history of our small screen. Actors like Terry Donovan, Val Jellay, Ken James and the beautiful Wendy Hughes are integral performers of dramas through the years. Shame about the timeslot!

  10. John, The Sullivans is a Crawford production and the Crawford catalogue is owned by Bruce Gordon, the owner of WIN TV.

The reason why Crawford shows are not on TV at the moment is quite complex as there are clearance issues and major issues regarding residual payments. To cover the potential of having to pay actors and production staff residual payments, Bruce is asking quite alot of money for the Crawford shows – which makes it impractical for both FTA and Pay TV to show

  11. With the Paul Hogan case dropped yesterday I heard his accountant say he was preparing to come out again in any case. It would be great if he could make it to GTV as it was the scene of his first TV appearance on New Faces as well as where The Paul Hogan Show was filmed. Will here be a other big name mystery guests?

  12. A sad roll call to be honest. Not even half of these people are “stars” in my eyes.
Ann-Maree Biggar,David Reyne?? Two of the most annoying people to ever grace aus tv.
    Sam Newman,Tim Ferguson??..ditto
And then you have the opposite end of the spectrum…Lorraine Bayly & Paul Cronin, two of aus’ finest.
And just when will The Sullivans get a new run?A true work of class.
I mean if 7 can repeat Mash ad nauseum, surely The Sullivans can get a look in?
And how about a modern day Sullivans set 60 years after the original.Kitty as a great great grandmother?
