  1. Hello Jerome, the “daily” share only covers primetime, 6pm-midnight. Since most live sport is outside primetime (e.g. U.S. sport), we don’t know how many people are actually watching at those times. Also the 0.5% you quote is as bad as it gets on One – a more usual figure is around 0.9, with peaks up around 5 when there is live sport during primetime. In the lead-up to the F1 finale, One beat every secondary channel except for Go (unfortunately for them the actual race didn’t start until after primetime ended at midnight EDT, or they probably would’ve beat Go as well).

  2. They did already try showing Warren Miller films in the past. I presume it wasn’t much of a success. If they’re going to show movies though Le Mans hasn’t been on in a long time! Friday Night Lights is currently running on the W channel, for those who aren’t aware – half-way through S2 – 11pm weeknights.

  3. @DansDans – I agree, ‘The Fan’ might feature a baseball obsessed nutter as its central character but that’s where the sports relevance ends. This whole movie night idea raises a question. Has ONE been told to broaden its appeal beyond 100% sports programming in an attempt to appease certain new significant shareholders at Ten.

  4. Oh here we go – adding movies to the channel. Sorry but this is a sports channel, if I wanted to watch movies in HD I would get the foxtel package or something. Keep the movies off One HD and use it on the Ten channel or the new Eleven, I see no reason for them to add movies – what a joke. Sounds like they’re messing up this channel.

  5. Not sure about the movie night, why not have Friday Night Light marathon?

It might help it in the ratings as long as they are good sports related movie or TV shows, maybe they could bring back the under rated “Sports Night” comedy 🙂

  6. WTF? Movie night? The Fan isnt even a sport movie – its a bloody thriller about a psychotic baseball fan!!

How about Remember The Titans (even though its Disney and you dont have the rights, but you get the idea), The Air Up There etc You know, the Real sports movies based on Real sports moments

Hopefully we wont see stuff like White Men Cant Jump, Above The Rim, Legend Of Bagger Vance etc

  7. I wonder how much of this will actually be native HD. There seems to be less and less recently. But then that would be matching the FTA HD channels which are a total joke.

  8. One are going to have to focus on more than just 3rd rate sports. I think Movie nights are a good example and there are soooo many good sporting themed films there’s also alot of sport based TV Programming that isn’t actual sport that One should try get their hands on. Just to fill the holes whilst they’re waiting for more rights to expire so they can snap them up.
