Team Oprah cautious on Qantas A380

Oprah's producers are a tad concerned about the Qantas A380 given that the audience is due to fly on the plane next month.

Is it possible that the perfect tourism media event could be coming unstuck? Not likely, but problems with the Qantas A380 have Oprah’s producers a tad concerned, given that the audience is due to fly on the plane next month.

Yesterday the A380 airbus lost one of four engines in a Singapore – Sydney flight. Imagine the publicity if it had been the Oprah flight.

“We are grateful that everyone aboard Qantas flight QF32 is safe and there were no injuries to passengers or crew,” an Oprah Winfrey Show a spokesperson said.

“The safety of our trip attendees is our first priority, “We have been in touch with Qantas and are discussing all our travel options for our December trip, “We will continue to monitor the situation closely.”

Maybe they should fly United, given the airline has unveiled a specially-painted plane in honour of her final season.

During the inaugural flight from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Los Angeles today, passengers were greeted by a video welcome from Winfrey and received a specially monogrammed “Oprah 25″ fleece blanket. One passenger was given enough United Mileage Plus miles for a trip around the world.

  1. I’d have no hesitation taking any Qantas flight, especially the A380. They are doing the right thing grounding them until they can be cleared but this is an engine issue that Rolls Royce needs to get to the bottom of.
