The Block auctioned

The four Vaucluse apartments renovated for The Block were sold at auction last night. No Spoilers.

The four Vaucluse apartments renovated for The Block were sold at auction last night.

That will leave the production team madly scrambling to edit raw footage ahead of tonight’s screening.

Nine was determined to try to keep the results under wraps, particularly given the ratings-buster that previous auctions have been. While it may not reach such glory in the new TV landscape, it is still on track for a strong finish tonight.

The invitation-only auction was held under tight security at Vaucluse House.

Ahead of the auction, potential buyers were advised the apartments would fetch more than $900,000.

Channel Nine’s New South Head Road block was bought for $3.4 million with vendor finance this year, with $160,000 in stamp duty. It underwent a quick update before the contestants had 52 days and $80,000 to renovate their apartments.

Vaucluse’s most expensive unit sale this year was $1,275,000 for an apartment which last sold for $1,390,000 in 2001.

The Sydney Morning Herald does publish the highest and lowest sale price for the apartments but withholds attaching which couples they belonged to.

  1. Interesting that the picture you used was of the winning apartment.

I picked John & Neisha would win, and Brenton & Chez would be the one that didn’t sell.

    Have enjoyed the series.

  2. In an SMH article, it reads “Thee rratic nature of Sydney’s property market was evident when just three of the four units in the Channel Nine renovation series The Block sold under the auction hammer last night.” Was the fourth unit got sold just as a last minute attempt to sell all of them?

  3. Minor spoiler…

I was there, and there was one cast member VERY upset at the outcome…..

And it’s not who you would think…

Cant wait for the final product to air tonight
