Foxtel’s interest in its very own answer to a Real Housewives format for Australia is now eyeing a project with WAGs.
The Herald Sun reports Rebecca Twigley, fiancee of Brownlow medallist Chris Judd, has been approached to be part of the series, along with Nadia Coppolino, girlfriend of Geelong player Jimmy Bartel. Both have declined the request.
Jodi Gordon, who dates rugby league player Braith Anasta, is also believed to have turned down an approach.
“It is not just footy WAGs they are interested in,” an insider said.
“They are looking for partners of AFL players, partners of NRL players, a cricket WAG and maybe a soccer WAG.
“There would be maybe five or six (partners of sportsmen) being followed (by cameras).”
The concept has been rumoured in the media before, including incorporating housewives from Sydney and the Gold Coast.
The 10 part series is tipped for FOX8.

For the ones who turned it down, shows they really are in love with the man, not after the player and all the fame/money etc. Good on them.
@Son: Agreed. I was preparing to go on my ‘fame whores’ rant until I read that there were some that turned it down. Good on them.
Lets apply the care factor here should we, 0 / 10.
Love the concept, looking forward to it. I reckon Fox have a hit on their hands.
can’t wait!! :o)
I can’t wait for this show! Good work on getting something like this up in Australia!
I can see working. And I can see every network racing to do copycat shows too.
How is this good? Foxtel producing American trash…. considering the core audience of Fox is lower and middle class people, shows like this that flaunt richness in peoples faces is simply disgusting
But then, considering the amount of idiots with comments like “yes please” and “good get Foxtel” I think we know where TV and audiences are heading in this country.
Bring on the double sided tape.
This is perfect for Fox 8. I’m surprised there hasn’t been a WAG show in Oz already.
Excellent. This will be a good watch. Who’s making it?
I’ve got a newfound respect for those women who turned it down.
If done well I can see this being massive hit for Foxtel. There’s a huge amount of interest in WAGs and Foxtel feels like the right home for it.
This will absolutely work. A good get by Foxtel
Oh yes please. This could be sensational. But seriously then need to get Simone Warne.
alex fevola will be knocking down foxtels door as we speak
