Golden Globe nominees

Toni Collette has again been nominated for a Golden Globe award for her performance in United States of Tara.

She is the sole Australian actor to be nominated in the television awards -however Geoffrey Rush, Nicole Kidman and Jacki Weaver have all been nominated in the film awards. Weaver’s nomination is an utter triumph for an actress who has been part of the Australian industry for decades and has appeared in an independent film.

Collette, who won in 2009, will be competing against Edie Falco, Tina Fey, Laura Linney and Lea Michele.

In the Television awards newcomers include Boardwalk Empire, The Walking Dead, and The Big C.

They will join previous contenders Mad Men, Glee, House, Dexter, Modern Family, The Good Wife and 30 Rock.

The Pacific is also up for an award.

The awards will take place on January 16 from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, hosted by Ricky Gervais.
