The day before it landed a Golden Globe nomination, GEM decided to drop The Big C from Wednesday night.

The move comes during Nine Network’s erratic week of summer amendments.

But it will reappear in a new timeslot, along with Weeds.

Both are now set to resume 10:30pm / 11:00pm Wednesday December 22nd. They repeat the following Tuesday.

The Big C was one of the flagship shows of the new channel launch a few months ago. Laura Linney could very well snatch the Globe for her wonderful performance, too.

  2. I’ve had it with FTA stations chopping and changing their scheduling… shame on them all! Given that I watched it from the beginning (I love Laura Linney!) I think it’s only fair and just that I get to see the end!

  3. Is there some big conspiracy to get us all to go to pay TV? Seriously, every FTA channel treats its audience like utter crap! Last minute changes, repeats interspersed with new episodes, shows on one week, gone the next only to reappear suddenly – how do they ever figure out what shows we actually want to watch when we have no idea when they’re actually going to be shown? Wake up networks!

  6. Yet another example of free to air’s blatant disregard for their consumers. The Big C only has a couple of episodes of this series to go, so why start stuffing around with it now?
    I’ll add it to the list of programs that I now download, it seems to be the only way I can be assured of seeing the entire series.

  7. I am so over being treated like this by free to air TV.
    I only watch a handful of regular shows during the year, and at present The Big C is the only one and after the previous weeks mini cliffhanger I was waiting for this weeks with anticipation. I was furious! It will be on next week but at an even later timeslot!
    Although, I really should be used to this! All the shows I have loved over the years have been pushed around, eg Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Heroes, Arrested Development, 30 Rock to name just a few!!!!
    I just do not understand why, all this other crap like Two and a Half Men, stupid reality shows etc get played over and over and of all the people I know No one watches them…..it all truly baffles me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Big C & Weeds -very disappointed were not on last night – both shows are excellent – terrible time slot for an oldie too – im 72 – be kind – bring them back at a decent time .

    oh and I was wrong the other day. The only show I’ve been watching on FTA over the last 2 weeks is Rush, which ends tonight with it’s season final.

  15. What terrible time slots for these wonderful shows. Thank goodness for DVRs! Now if only I could count on GEM sticking to that time perhaps programming the machine would be worthwhile.

    Seriously, the Big C is the only thing I’m watching on GEM (despite being right in their target demographic), which is something I’m hearing from a lot of people, so why isn’t the show in prime time?
