  1. P.S. I don’t mind who broacasts it, as long as they don’t keep changing the camera angle every 5 seconds. They seem to think everyone suffers from ADD, and often miss a spectacular part due to changing cameras yet again at a crucial moment (do they not get a rundown of what to expect? They often switch away from the bridge just when something goes off on the bridge)! You only need a shot of the Opera House and bridge, a shot that includes the buildings, a helicopter shot, and occasional shots of the audience, and that’s it.

  2. Secret Squirrel, I usually go to the fireworks, however I also have friends/relatives in America that I send recordings to – “never seen anything like it!” – so yes I watch it live, and also want the broadcast to be in HD for those who can’t see it in person themselves (not to mention those in our community who are house-bound and have no choice in the matter).

  3. Really? Watching the fireworks on TV reminds me of this Leunig cartoon 3.bp.blogspot.com/_InTTA3tpeeo/Rjh4ep-KONI/AAAAAAAAAZo/VNxm2vEb7Tg/s200/Picture+17.png

You can’t get any more HD than reality.

  4. Please god no Shaun Micallef, I saw that NYE special ten did it was ruddy aweful.

I’d like to see ABC bring back the NYE special they did a couple of years ago, it was hosted my Myf from S&S and featured a look back on the year followed by the best eps of Gruen, S&S, New Inventors & Chaser.

That was a great night in.

  5. @chk chk: Who is Alicia Gorey anyway? New Year’s Eve is the night nobody wants to work, all the ‘decent’ names wouldn’t dare want to work on that night, so Nine just bring up the list of D-list stars and she probably just drew the short straw :0

  6. What about the Melbourne fireworks? The telecast was absent from Seven and Nine’s schedule last year, maybe it should be reinstated this year. Bring back Richard Wilkins!

  7. Oh Dang! I was so hoping for another NYE of Shaun Micallef to get me through the night!!! Instead we’re getting Richard Wilkins???? Unnnnbelievableeee….

  8. 7:30pm 2010 – The Way It Was.

    Hosted by Peter Overton.

First mistake of the night right there – that guy is the biggest w**ker on TV, most people I know won’t watch anything his face is on.
