Simon Baker sure has come a long way since he was Simon Baker-Denny on E Street.
Back then he was a cute cop without much show, but now he’s on the verge of a $30m deal with Warner Bros Television, according to Deadline.
The new deal secures him on The Mentalist for seven years, one year more than his current six year contract. It incorporates his current salary and factors in an additional piece of the show’s backend. He will also get a producer credit on the show from Season 5.
The Mentalist currently nets $2.2 million-$2.3 million an episode.
The Mentalist has averaged 16 million viewers.
A nice bit of magic that’s for sure.

Didn’t he add the Baker after E Street?
Well said JM!
I’m happy to see Simon get his fair share of the profits.
how can you put a cap on that smile!?!
@jack why on earth would you want to put a salary cap on a job? If he can make that much good on him.
@ Jack tat 30mil is over 4 years, meaning 7.5mil a season. 7.5mil / 23 episodes per season average, since CBS is always willing to give their shows an extra episode or two a season = 326k or so Per episode, which isn’t much to be honest, Keifer Sutherland was pulling over 500k per episode, for an infinitely less popular and declining show, Desperate Housewives 400k per episode each for the four leading ladies, for a show whose best years are far behind them, Noah Wyle 400k when ER was on the decline, after the “Mark Greene years”.
I could understand if The Mentalist was any good but it’s just a load of rubbish, the same type of rubbish that comes out of America these days. Whether it’s NCIS Los Angeles, The new Hawaii 5-0, Bones or Burn Notice as well as many others they are all one and the same. They all seem to be based on a cute cast, heroics and marketability rather than providing real entertainment value. A bit different from the days of Columbo and Jessica Fletcher!
At least five more years of The Mentalist so I’m happy.
@Jack – why a salary cap? thats only $4 million a season (of 22-24 episodes). If 1 episode makes 2.2 million or $50 million a season i think thats a very fair amount….. Simon is the show!!! Its nice to see the stars getting come money instead of the studios making all the cash
And they say that CEOs get paid too much….How about a salary cap on actors?
