Who will Stand Out From the Crowd?

An Australian network has picked up the rights to a UK gameshow where members of the public become contestants for a host on a big screen.

Here’s a new gameshow coming to Australia -but it just isn’t clear which network yet….

Various territories are going into production on Stand Out From the Crowd, created by UK Gogglebox Entertainment and described as “ambush-style”, sees random members of the public participating in live quizzes at venues such as shopping malls and sports grounds, projected on to public video screens.

The contestants answer questions against the clock, supported by the crowd who can shout out answers, before facing a final round without support from the public to win a cash prize.

In the UK it is hosted by Deal or No Deal‘s Noel Edmonds. Distributors 2waytraffic also handle Millionaire.

It will be produced in countries such as Italy, Colombia, Moldova and Turkey as either 30 min or 60 min television. It has also been optioned in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and here in Australia, notes C21 Media.

It just isn’t clear which network has nabbed the rights.

  1. This is a very original concept. However, they wouldn’t want to get a crap contestant and give away 50k. When mike Whitney used to do his stunts in shopping centers for who dares wins, they used to film for days so they would get the right people

  2. @Daniel G I agree a pilot has been made, and clips from it are being used for international sale, the host in the video “Noel Edmonds” is exactly the right host for it.

Noel is working with Sky alot at the moment (as well as Deal or No Deal) so he could be doing it for Sky, but as a Brit I had not heard of this.

  3. Firstly, it looks like a 60’s Doctor Who set, not that that’s a bad thing.

Secondly, dodgy British game show that makes idiots of its participants, come on David, its got to be only one network, Seven.

  4. As far as I can tell, ‘Stand Out from the Crowd’ hasn’t aired in the UK yet; by the looks of the clip, I’d say that only a pilot has been made so far. It still looks interesting, though.
