‘Supermodel’ winner apologetic after drunken bender

Make Me a Supermodel winner Rhys Uhlich was given a penalty notice for being drunk in a public place.

Rhys Uhlich was given a penalty notice for being drunk in a public place after an escapade at Phillip Island on Monday morning, according to the Herald Sun.

Uhlich, who won Seven’s 2008 reality series Make Me a Supermodel, was issued with a penalty notice by Victoria Police after he knocked over a wheelie bin full of bottles onto a road and fled the scene. Police reportedly chased him until he fell to the ground.

Last week local authorities at Phillip Island were reiterating the holiday island as a family destination, including banning New Year’s Eve fireworks as part of a trial to deter bad behaviour.

The former school teacher turned Melbourne Myer model told the newspaper he took responsibility for his actions after trying to show off amongst his mates.

“Sometimes people in the public eye – I guess maybe there’s a bit of pressure and it gets too much for them and obviously they can explode, but I think that’s a poor excuse,” he said. “I’m just not going to let myself drink if I can’t handle that sort of pressure,” he said.
