Axed: My Life on the D-List

Kathy Griffin extricates herself from the D-List, calling quits on the show after 6 seasons.

Aww…..Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List is no more after Griffin decided to put the series to rest.

“It was a really tough decision because I think of the D-List as pretty much my baby for the last six seasons, and I also think it was really time to stop doing it,” Griffin told People. “Reality is great, but I really didn’t set out to be a reality star. So now it’s time to spread my wings and show that I’m a little different than Kate Gosselin.”

Bravo has ordered four stand-up comedy specials starring Griffin. She also plans to create an improvised comedy series that will feature “some characters from the D-List that you’ve come to love, and then maybe I’ll have actors play a couple other characters that are from my real life.”

The show, which included episodes filmed in Sydney, had aired in Australia on Arena.

  1. Taz is correct – ‘Axed’ traditionally refers to a show taken off the air by the network.

Didn’t Jerry Seinfeld famously argue with Larry King on air about something like this? Larry questioned if his show was axed and Jerry was offended, saying that he was the one who decided to call it quits.

  2. Taz: I use phrases such as Axed, Renewed, Returning, Airdate, Gone, Bumped etc consistently across the site. This helps people search info for archival purposes.

Whether the network, the star or the producers called quits on the show is usually filed in the story as it is here.
