Karl to quit Today for 60 Minutes?
There is renewed speculation that Karl Stefanovic may leave the Today show to become a fulltime member of 60 Minutes.

There is renewed speculation that Karl Stefanovic may leave the Today show to become a full-time member of 60 Minutes.
Stefanovic, who has co-hosted Today since 2005, has previously filed for 60 Minutes as well as hosting A Current Affair, Random Acts of Kindness and even Carols by Candlelight.
But talk of him exiting Today is not new.
In 2009 there were suggestions Tracy Grimshaw may shift to 60 Minutes, paving the way for Stefanovic to front ACA. So far that hasn’t happened.
Nine spokesperson David Hurley told News Limited the speculation was a “steaming pile of silly-season excrement”.
“There is no truth to that at all,” he added. “Why would Karl leave Today when it is so successful?”
One day it will come true.
Last February Stefanovic told TV Tonight, “I think 60 Minutes is something I’ve always wanted to do all my life. To have the access to those stories and do it in combination with the Today show is the best possible combination.”
He previously admitted he sees himself joining 60 Minutes at some point.
“Down the track, yeah,” he conceded. “I think I’ve always had that ambition to be in 60 Minutes. There’s no doubt about that.”
As to who might replace him alongside Lisa Wilkinson? Steve Jacobs, Ben Fordham and Michael Usher are all on the rumour mill.

but that being said, they also know when to be serious and not sound patronising like Mel on Sunrise, now that show is so fake with people who hate each other acting like they like each other.
I really enjoy the Karl/Lisa banter, the show would be poorer for losing it.
I think Hurley has been misquoted. I’m sure that he was referring to Karl when he said “steaming pile of silly-season excrement”.
If Karl leave Today it will be a real loss to the atmosphere to the show and the chemistry he has with Lisa.
If only they could get rid of Lisa.
No amount of money or anything will get me to watch the Today Show.. cant stand any of them, they dont know the meaning of fun, they take news storys from other channels.
At least Sunrise knows the meaning of fun and at the some time they are serious about their news, they give back to their viewers, they help each other out.. And thats way Sunrise is Australia’s No 1. Morning Show 7 years running
Well that would certainly kill off any last tiny bit of credibility 60 Minutes still manages to have.
He’s alright, not that I watch that crap, but certainly seems like he’d be more suited to the trashy ACA-Extra style reporting of 60 Minutes.
I like the idea of Tracey Grimshaw moving to 60 Minutes. Her journalistic excellence is wasted on ACA. As for Karl, I think he should stay on Today, because then I won’t see him !
I always feel Karl is out of place on Today … it stops me from watching.
The way he dresses is all wrong … and he seems so forced.
I vote for Ben Fordham … he would be perfect!
michael usher gets my vote….though I will miss the Karl-lisa dynamics.
That being said, I haven’t watched as much Today since ABC started its breakfast news show.
Ben Fordham should host Weekend Today.

Hurley is always good for a wry quote and good for avoiding spin.
I love watching Karl and Lisa together. If Karl left they would lose me as a viewer. On the plus side if I stopped watching morning TV I might actually get to work on time for once..
please no- karl is great on today- if steve jacobs gets anywhere near the host chair i will vomit…

I’d be really bummed if he left Today anytime soon. His chemistry with Lisa is what makes me tune in when I’m getting ready in the morning. Sometimes they’re like friends, then brother and sister, then a couple. Although, if he were on 60 Minutes it’d be interesting to watch because he’d have to tone down the goofiness and all the quips.
Actually I think it would be a good idea if KS left Today for 60mins. and really the sooner the better. He often looks bored with Today and Ben Fordham would be a good choice as a replacement. He seems to be one of 9’s rising stars. Steve Jacobs no and Michael Usher, too serious for early mornings.

Good luck to him on 60 Minutes. He may do better as a reporter because he’s never been brilliant on Today as an interviewer. I reckon Lisa Wilkinson really carries him on that show. Ben Fordham has been doing a stellar job on Today recently.
I have enjoyed Michael Usher hosting ACA. If this is true though, please don’t make his replacement Cameron Williams – torture!
Why would Karl leave the Today Show??? Why not! I’d certainly watch it again if he did!
Please let him take the job – get rid of him from Today – then let him go to 60 minutes – yeah then i dont have to watch him – bring on some new decent faces
And 60 minutes used to be a program with integrity circa 1980.
Surely 9 would now be grooming Warwick Capper to replace Stefanovic.
He would fill his shoes no worries.

Ben Fordham is good,enjoyed him when he was on 2UE.
Anyway as it is nothing would get me to watch Today…can’t stand any of them.
