Oprah promises ‘miracle secret’

"I thought I'd seen it all. But this, my friends, is the miracle of all miracles," Winfrey says of her own upcoming family reunion.

As if her final season hasn’t kept trumping itself, now Oprah Winfrey is promising her audience a bombshell family reunion, with herself as the central player.

Winfrey is staging a family reunion during which she plans to reveal something she’s recently learned that only a few people close to her know.

“I thought I’d seen it all. But this, my friends, is the miracle of all miracles,” she said in a promotional clip.

“I was given some news that literally shook me to my core. This time, I’m the one being reunited. I was keeping a family secret for months, and on Monday you’re going to hear it straight from me.”

Winfrey was born to unwed teens and was raised at various times by her grandmother, mother and father and stepmother in Mississippi, Wisconsin and Tennessee.

She gave birth at the age of 14, but her baby died a short time later.

Staff on the show have been sworn to secrecy.

Update: The big “family secret” that Oprah Winfrey has been promising to reveal Monday is the host’s heretofore unknown half sister, Winfrey’s biographer says. Kitty Kelley, author of 2010’s unauthorized Oprah: A Biography, tells Time Out Chicago blogger Robert Feder that Winfrey will be reunited on her talk show with a woman named Bunny who was born to Winfrey’s mother, Vernita Lee, but given up for adoption.Chicago Sun Times.

  1. @newtaste, or is it a bunny that’s O’s half-sister?

A regular long-lost half-sister is no “miracle of all miracles”, but pulling a rabbit out of the hat that’s your half-sister? Now that’d be a miracle! And if said bunny-sis had been living in, oh I don’t know, let’s say Australia, then it really is the miracle of all miracles!

  2. It would all make sense if it was that Oprah was actually immaculately conceived. She could talk about her long lost step-brother, Jesus, who would come on and talk about how amazing it is to be on the Oprah show.

  3. So an Oprah family secret qualifies as ‘the miracle of all miracles’? No ego issues there then! Alert the Pope, Saint O’s gonna raise somebody from the grave, on TV!
