Rachael Taylor cast in Charlie’s Angels

An optimistic Rachael Taylor is upbeat about 2011 after being cast in Charlie's Angels and dating a new man.

Actress Rachael Taylor has been cast in the remake of Charlie’s Angels.

She will play a con-artist member of the trio, joining with General Hospital star Annie Ilonzeh and Friday Night Lights star Minka Kelly.

It follows filmed appearances for Grey’s Anatomy .

Meanwhile Taylor, 26, has given her first interview since a headline-grabbing break-up with Matthew Newton in Italy last August. The drama led to Seven replacing his high-profile hosting of The X Factor.

She told the Sunday Herald Sun, “I’m on a good wicket at the moment. I’m in a positive time in my life and I’m really committed to taking good care of myself physically, emotionally, spiritually and intellectually – and all those things are really important. You can’t neglect one.

“I think over the past year I have done a lot of growing up,” she said. “I’m really happy with life right now. 2011 is already really busy and I’m looking forward to an exciting year ahead.”

Taylor has been dating actor Josh Lawson since the end of last year.

  1. Minka Kelly is a great pick, Rachael Taylor wouldn’t have been something I’d have guessed but on a patriotic note I’m very happy for her involvement and even if it weren’t picked up it’s the biggest coup for her career since Transformers.

This show will depend on two things, production values and casting. The girls, when styled, should look the part but the chemistry between them will be one of the make or break obstacles. Since there’s been no official announcement of casting I’d say they’re using this time to test the girls together intensively to ensure there’s convincing compatability and chemistry. The production values of this will need to be extremely high. The show will have to endure comparison to the films and since McG shot the hell out of them like they were a music video with every colour popping, everything beautiful and no clouds in the sky there’s going to be a high standard to reach to appeal to young viewers looking for the same glamour and fun that Diaz, Liu and Barrymore displayed.
