Canadian sci-fi series Sanctuary has been renewed for a fourth season.
Syfy has approved a new 13-episode season, created by Damian Kindler (Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis).
The show centres on Dr. Helen Magnus, a 158-year-old English scientist, and her team of experts who run an organisation that seeks out extraordinarily-powered creatures and people, known as Abnormals, and tries to help and learn from them.
The series stars Amanda Tapping, Robin Dunne, Agam Darshi, Ryan Robbins and Christopher Heyerdahl.
It airs in Australia on SciFi and ABC2.

I love this series. Bought both season 1 & 2 on bluray. Looking forward to series 3 and more.
When does the rest of season 3 return to Scifi? That last ep was an absolute cliffhanger.
Good point Adam …
@ Richard … (I hate this @ business because it sounds like we are having a go at someone!!!) anyway …
both “Sanctuary” and the new season of “V” are working brilliantly with green screen now and I really enjoy what they can do with these completely artificial worlds … and they look amazing in HD on Blu-ray disc! If it helps sustain our favourite Sci-Fi shows and keeps the seasons coming then i am all for it …
Stargate Universe sucks because Joseph Mallozzi will take the executive lead for writing scripts. There clear different between a the quality of his episodes and comparsion to other stargate writers
Take Robert C. Cooper, Martin Gero and Brad Wright written and produced episodes from SGA/SGU. These are some of the most memorable episodes in stargate
Even in both stargate SGA/SGU Joseph Mallozzi would be the one writing the filler episodes that sucked badly
As i saw the other day the Scifi channel is shying away from big budget shows prefering to work with blue screen type shows, which i think is wrong
@Jimmy: Thirteen’s a good number for TV. It doesn’t mean they lack faith in the show, it may just be more economical. Remember Sanctuary doesn’t have studio support so its budget is, well tiny compared with current Doctor Who or Merlin. So this may be a decision of the show rather than Sci-Fi.
am i the only one worried that it’s back to 13 episodes instead of 20 like this season?
Fantastic!
This has grown into a great Sci-Fi series.
The final two epidodes of Season 2 called “Kali” were just brilliant! and it is great that Amanda Tapping is having such a great success after Stargate.
Sadly, Stargate Universe was just too dark and lacking in “magic” to continue … Will they come up with a better Stargate spin-off??? I’m sure they could if they stayed true to the original shows style, humour and “magic” (as I keep calling it).
Stargate belongs in the same class of Sci-Fi as Doctor Who, Smallville and Merlin … not the style of Battlestar Galactica. It need glamour, not grunge.
Great news!
