You might not know the name Bill Erwin, but if you’re a Seinfeld fan you’ll be familiar with his work.
Erwin died on December 29th of ‘age-related’ causes, aged 96.
The character actor was best known for his cranky role as Sid Fields on the 1993 episode “The Old Man.” He was even nominated for an Emmy for that performance.
But he also appeared on such shows as I Love Lucy, Leave It to Beaver, The Twilight Zone, Barnaby Jones, Cannon, Gunsmoke, The Andy Griffith Show, Perry Mason, Highway to Heaven, Growing Pains, Who’s the Boss?, Voyagers, Dukes of Hazzard, Full House, Moonlighting, The Golden Girls, Married With Children, Everwood, Monk, The West Wing, King of Queens, My Name Is Earl and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
He also appeared in a number of films directed by John Hughes, with cameos in Planes, Trains and Automobiles, She’s Having a Baby, Home Alone, and Dennis the Menace and played Arthur the Bellman on the 1980 film Somewhere in Time.

Hi David,
Erwin was not a regular of Star Trek: The Next Generation as he had only appeared in one episode.
