Come Fly with Me on Nine

Matt Lucas and David Walliams' new airport parody will air on Nine.

The Nine Network has picked up the rights to Come Fly with Me, the latest comedy offering from Little Britain‘s Matt Lucas and David Walliams.

Set in and around a fictitious airport and its three airlines FlyLo, Our Lady Air and Great British Air, it again sees the two comedians playing multiple characters.

But Lucas and Walliams have noted the series is not as grotesque as some of their Little Britain characters who include the manager of the airport’s coffee kiosk ‘Precious Little’, the airport’s chief immigration officer ‘Ian Foot’, a camp air steward ‘Fearghal O’Farrell’ and the owner of low-cost airline FlyLo, ‘Omar Baba.’

A second series was announced by the BBC last week.

  1. Bloody brilliant! Watyched a couple of previews on you tube and love it! Can’t wait for it to air! About time there was something good to watch on telly instead of American sitcoms! Very excited!!!!!!

  2. Amazing as to how many people on here have having to have already seen it. Why does Nine or any other Australian broadcaster bother importing series from overseas anymore? For the record, I have been watching this series by other means as well, and in native HD, whereas Nine will be in SD, either on Nine, Go! or GEM which downconverts all HD content to SD and then re-upconverts back to HD again, crazy.

  3. @Rob: fair enough I can see Little Britain fans not liking this as much but I think one good thing about it is the centralised theme of the airport. Little Britain had seperate unrelated characters. Plus personally I’m a fan of the Airline shows and a traveller myself so I can relate to this.

  4. @Richard W: It’s not a “British comedy” thing, I’m a huge fan of British comedy but didn’t find anything amusing about this series. I loved Little Britain but found this shallow and stupid from the outset, lacking any kind of insight or meaningful social commentary at all. It’s a long way from Little Britain.

  5. I think Nine are staking a claim on the title of Australia’s home of comedy.
Cops LAC was one of the funniest things I have ever seen – the acting, the script, the plot.
Two and a Half Men however? Not sure what that twaddle is doing there, or on any television station frankly.

  6. The first four episodes were OK but not as “together” as we are used to from Little Britain … sometimes a bit dull … however, episode Five was excellent … I think they have now sorted out what works best and I look forward to the upcoming eps! There was a change of pace in ep Five which really worked.

Problem is that Nine will probably drop it after two episodes like they usually do!!!

  7. @Rob: you have to watch some more episodes before you can judge. I was the same about Little Britain as well, I didnt see the point or humor at first. But once you get to know the characters more you get into it and now I love it. British humour is not for everyone but you have to give it a go.

  8. While I love a good comedy I seriously think Nine is overestimating the amount of laughter people have in them. Its hard to launch one good drama let alone 74.

  9. Great news, hope they show this ASAP. I’m a big fan of Little Britain so I was a little worried this series wouldn’t be as good, but its grown on me and I actually think its slightly better. Its a mockumentary based on the original Airport and Airline documentary shows. I think it appeals to a lot more people. Hope Nine doesn’t cut any of it due to ad breaks!

  10. Now the so-appointed ‘Home of Laughter’ has another show to have in its cupboard and not screen.

I have watched it all. It is alright. Not as good as Little Britain but it is nice to have the boys back.

  11. This show is hilarious, shame its going to be on Nine though. Would have been better on ABC1 without the commercials, bad promotion, multiple time slots, and shown in the wrong order.
