Hamish and Andy announcement nears

A deal between Hamish and Andy and Channel Nine is expected to be announced on Friday.

More news on the Hamish and Andy front indicates a deal with Channel Nine will be announced on Friday.

This follows reports as early as last month that the duo were signing with Nine in a shock exit from their TEN stable. Earlier this week the Australian Financial Review said the fee was rumoured to be as high as $17m for 15 shows.

While some incorrectly took this as them already having signed with Nine, manager Mark Klemmens says the figure was wrong.

“I can’t comment on the dollar aspect only to say that what has been speculated is not right at all and so far the deal with Nine really hasn’t been finalised,” Klemens told News Limited.

The Herald Sun says the duo have a $15m deal for two years with 10 hours to be delivered each years.

An official announcement is expected during their weekly podcast on Friday.

  1. @Chris – by commenting you have just included yourself in that statement of yours. Unless, of course, that statement isn’t entirely accurate, in which case – no wait… you’d still be an idiot, just for a different reason. Way to go, Einstein.

  2. @Andy If they are smart they will make sure their contract allows this – after all, the broadness of their appeal stems in part from having been able to do Spicks & Specks, TGYH etc.

  3. I suppose in everyone’s career you have to take the money when it’s offered, and then be prepared to take some time off to spend the money. TGYH took the money and disaapeared, Kath and Kim took the money and dissappeared, Tony Squires took the money and disappeared (until recently)…

  4. If being with nine means they will be exclusive, and not appear on other channels that’s fantastic. That means we won’t have to suffer Hamish on Spicks and Specks any more.. woo hoo 🙂

  5. They were never signed to Ten, they were selling specials made during their radio travels and charging for appearance on Your Gen, TGYH and Spicks & Specks. Nine will almost definitely have them on exclusivity.

  6. $750,000 for an hour of TV? Given Nine’s success in the comedy field, I’d be very nervous to work in their finance department.

Or if I were Hamish and Andy, for that matter.

  7. I wonder if they signed exclusivity? They were able to do TGYH on Seven while they were signed with TEN. I wonder if they can still do Your Gen, etc while they are at Nine.
