Ian Turpie diagnosed with cancer

Iconic Aussie TV host Ian Turpie begins treatment for cancer on Monday.

Iconic Aussie TV host Ian Turpie has been diagnosed with cancer.

The former Price is Right host has asked for privacy during his treatment.

On his own website he states:

As you may have heard, I’ve recently been diagnosed with cancer and commence treatment on Monday 21 February. Will keep you updated on my progress via this website – thank you so much to the many well wishers for recent calls, cards and emails, it’s much appreciated.

I’ll keep you posted but request privacy during my treatment – hence I have declined all media offers to ‘sell’ my story, so I can focus on making a full and speedy recovery.

My family and friends are an incredible support – as so many of you will know having been through your own cancer ‘journey’. Love to all, Turps x

Turpie’s career has spanned more than 50 years, mostly hosting game shows, but more recently he has put in comic performances in Paul Fenech’s SBS comedies such as Swift and Shift Couriers.

  1. I met a man at the Markets and he excused his faint voice, he said he had been diagnosed with cancer of the Esophagus and his ‘Greek’ neighbor had advised him. “Eat paw paw every day” skin seeds and every part are beneficial.
He had restored his voice and his cancer cells were becoming less.
Try both Asparagus and Paw Paw, as natural food they can do no harm and I pray they will help you.
You are too lovely to leave this world at such an early age.
    Loved you always

  2. Ian, I wish you a speedy recovery, I consider you a king of Aussie game shows, noone has been as down-to-earth as you, your work on Seven’s New Price is Right (and later on TEN) was so memorable – best wishes….Curt

  3. He’s a tv icon – been around longer than most – he used to hangout with Olivia Newton John in the 60’s! I hope he gets through this – there is no-one with such an ebullient demeanour on our screens. Best wishes.
