Neighbours‘ Kym Valentine has finally spoken about a series of illnesses and a stay in a hospital last month.

Valentine, 33, took three months off work last year before checking herself into the clinic.

“In the past I had a series of private emotional and physical issues that led to a decline in my health, which are still too raw to talk about,” she told the Herald Sun.

Recent illnesses include pneumonia in 2008, and a collapsed lung on a flight from the US to Melbourne. Last July she spent a week in hospital with another lung problem.

She revealed she had been sick on and off for two years due to stress.

“However right now I feel great and I’m so excited to be back at work. I’m very grateful to the producers for allowing me time off to get healthy again and this year is already looking fantastic.”

  1. Hey Armchair, she already tried that. She left in 2004, found nothing, so she came back in 2007.

    So many Neighbours actors and actresses have left the show hoping to find more fame and money and found nothing. She’s the only one who had the guts to say, ‘you know what I screwed up. Please take me back’.

    Neighbours is as good as it will get for most of these people. If they weren’t so greedy they’d have jobs.

  2. Kym is a good actress it is a shame that she has not appeared in other shows. Hope she gets well from that picture she looks sexy as. In my opinion she is being wasted on Neighbours, good she made a name for herself their but its time for Kym to spread her wings and maybe go to the us or uk to expand her acting carreer, whilst she still has the looks.

  3. Of course H & A gets a much bigger audience than Neighbours. H & A is on a main channel so its expected. Neighbours was losing ratings on 10, as much as i hate to say it, so it was moved to digital, where not too much is expected,. But im happy if it averages around 300,000 daily. I PVR it each night, i hate missing it. And Kym is a fave & i cant wait to see her in new eps as im missing her back! So glad shes back to health.
