‘Lex Luthor’ returning for Smallville finale

Smallville‘s ‘Lex Luthor’ Michael Rosenbaum will return for the series’ two-hour finale which airs in the US in May.
Rosenbaum last appeared on Smallville in May 2008 and has resisted all calls to return, until now.
“I’m delighted to return for the series finale,” he has said. “I’m simply doing it for all of the fans out there who made Smallville the great success it is. I appreciate all of their passion, their relentlessness, and even their threats. Ha ha.”
Executive producers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson say of Rosenbaum’s encore, “It feels like the stars are aligning, literally. We couldn’t be more excited. And as far as the way he returns… there’ll be no doubt about how Lex becomes the great rival in Clark Kent’s life. He is the villain of the story.”
Rosenbaum’s return will follow the return of John Schneider and Annette O’Toole (as Jonathan and Martha Kent) and John Glover (Lionel Luthor), and later this season Laura Vandervoort (Kara/Supergirl) and Callum Blue (Zod).

@MyDoona – John Schneider has already made several return appearances on the show as a “ghost”.
As for Lex returning for the finale… well, to be honest, we could see that coming from a mile away 🙂
Rosenbaum was a strong presence on the show, and it was when he left I stopped watching.
@Karebear – yes she is the same actress.
Anyway.. so glad for this news! It was looking like he had turned his back on Smallville, so I’m glad he’ll be returning. Although.. I guess it will be with a bald rubber cap or something of the sort this time, as not sure he’ll be wanting to shave his head again just for one episode.
I watched Smallville for the first time in ages last week. Really enjoyed it. Kara/supergirl was in one of the eps. Is Laura Vandervoort the same actress that plays Anna’s daughter in V?
wait…John Schneider is returning? but he died in the series..is he coming back as a ghost?
David, you forgot the best part of the story! The fact that a day earlier EW were reporting that he wasnt coming back and then 24 hours later it’s reported that he is coming back. Rumours are flying that he either got scared by all the negative feedback or that the original article was a rouse by producers to scare him into signing.
Either way, soooo happy he is coming back, it wouldn’t be the same without him!
