Lisa McCune joins Blood Brothers telemovie

Michael Dorman, Lisa McCune, and Tony Martin will feature in Nine's true-crime telemovie based on the 1993 Gilham family murders.

The Nine Network has announced the cast for Blood Brothers, a true-crime telemovie based on the 1993 Gilham family murders in Woronora, NSW.

Lisa McCune, Tony Martin and Michael Dorman will feature in the 90-minute thriller which reconstructs the killings and a fight for justice.

Michael Dorman (Daybreakers, Suburban Mayhem, The Secret Life of Us) will star as Jeffrey Gilham who was initially convicted of the manslaughter of his young brother, Christopher. Gilham claimed that he killed Christopher in a fit of rage after Christopher murdered their parents. It wasn’t until 2008 that Gilham was sentenced to two life sentences for their deaths.

Blood Brothers tells the story from the perspective of two key people caught up in it: Tony Martin (False Witness, Wildside) will play Tony Gilham, the boys’ uncle, who campaigned for 14 years to clear Christopher’s name. McCune will feature as Margaret Cunneen, the Crown Prosecutor who found herself arguing a seemingly unwinnable case to eventually convict Jeffrey Gilham of the murders.

Jo Horsburgh, the Nine Network Head of Drama, said: “Blood Brothers is the compelling drama of a shocking family tragedy. I have no doubt that 17 years after these awful murders, the audience will still be divided in their opinions about the truth of what happened.”

Other cast members include Jonny Pasvolsky (Underbelly – A Tale of Two Cities), Jodi Gordon (Home & Away) and Frankie J. Holden (Police Rescue, Underbelly).

The telemovie from Playmaker Video (Wicked Love: The Maria Korp Story) goes into production next week in Sydney with director Peter Andrikidis. Based on the book by Robin Bowles, the screenplay has been written by Victoria Madden.

Jeffrey Gilham is currently serving two life sentences and is expected to make an appeal.

  1. No Sea Patrol wasn’t axed it’s still rating very well. Nine ended it for money reasons IIRC as it no longer qualifies for govt funding or something.
