The Amazing Race will be fastracked to television in a bold move the sees the show airing on 7mate.

The move confirms previous hints from Programming and Production Director Tim Worner.

It will air at 6:30pm on Sunday February 27th, six days after its US premiere.

This series will feature eleven teams of two, each returning from a previous edition, including a stop in Australia.

Utilising the multichannel means Aussie viewers won’t have to wait weeks or months to see the new series. Survivor fans are awaiting similar good news from Nine, with the new series about to launch.

Otherwise the only real downside is that 7mate is not part of the Foxtel satellite platform (can we please get these extra channels addressed?).

Seven also has a local version of TAR coming this year with Grant Bowler as host.

  1. shame shame shame, best show gets canned to hopeless 7Mate of all things, we missed first show and then managed to watch repeat on Sunday , now the timing and reminders of this show are non existent!!!!!

  2. Andrew B and Paul are dead on the money , its a HD show shown in SD and upscaled. What a waste if time , i myself just confirmed.I had a thought it was due to the amount of smearing in some shots , a bad sign of poor bitrate as well.
When i recorded it for the Hour it was only 4.9GB of data normally 1080i is about 6.2 and use to be higher. They do this due to cost of showing HD and bandwidth problems , thats why foxtel looks superior in HD to FTA , they use MPEG4 as opposed To MPEG2 , when the change does come when all is Digital dont expect any f the networks to make major changes.Didnt the Rudd government give them all $250million of licencing fees back.Unsure.
Last note:Dont ring 7 as there dimwits and its only a secretary who answers the calls.

  3. i love amazing race and had no idea it was on 7MATE my daughter rang this morning asking if we had heard it was on as she had missed it and i said not that i know of found this site and i guess we both missed it. shame on you 7mate it should be on channel 7 or at least channel 7 advertising it to be on 7MATE. get you act together for your viewers.

  4. By the time I realised this show was aired, I missed the first 45 mins of episode one. I was lost and wondered why the same people were on this show. At first I thought it was just a repeat of an old show but I didn’t remember seeing the same faces playing the race in Australia. At the end of the show they announced where you can view online. I tried but all I got this episode is no longer available. What is going on here?? Do you have any suggestions on which website you can view the video…..the full episode??

  5. I’m interested to know what possessed Seven to put this show onto Mate. I thought Mate was aimed at a male audience? How many Amazing Race fans are male? I would have thought it was skewed towards women. Just a thought… Would love to find out.

  6. What’s with all the negative comments about HD? I don’t have an HD box or television yet 7Mate is available to me – I live in Canberra and tried it the other day on TransACT at the top of the screen it says 7Mate SD, Basically I wanted to know why everyone has so much trouble getting it I thought it was an SD channel available everywhere
