SBS Foundation 2011

SBS is once again calling for charities and not-for-profit organisations to share in $2 million worth of airtime.

SBS is once again calling for expressions of interest for its SBS Foundation initiative.

The SBS Foundation allows for charities and not-for-profit organisations to share in $2 million worth of television airtime.

Since 2009 forty-five charities have benefitted from SBS television campaigns including Spinal Injuries Association, Whitelion Incorporated, Assistance Dogs Australia, Girl Guides Australia plus Indigenous communities, refugees, arts and environmental charities.

Nominations close Thursday 31 March 2011.

  1. It shouldn’t still amaze me that people like MHA & Jen would use this story (about free airtime to worthy charities) to bash SBS for in-program ads… But it does!

    Ads during programs started in 2006. Get over it already! Otherwise, we should all be paying higher taxes to fund another public broadcaster.

  2. Yes MHA, I don’t care if it’s an ad for KFC or for Guide Dogs – if it’s inserted within a program I’ll be FFing through it and cursing.
    Not that I watch much SBS since they started putting ads in programs.
    Used to watch it a lot before that.

  3. What is so special about Community Service Announcements getting free air time? It is the norm with all other networks incuding the ABC who don’t make a song and dance about it. As all networks use CSA’s to fill airtime with unpaid spots to pad out schedules. Do the SBS management types think that it engenders some kind of positive spin in return for the ugliness of in-program commercial breaks, I think not!
