Britain and Germany have apparently “declared multiculturalism a failure.” Hmm… did they have a Referendum we didn’t hear about?

Fan them flames, guys….

The Great Divide
Some say it’s the very thing that makes Australia great. Others believe it threatens our national identity. It seems right now nothing divides opinion like multiculturalism. Our government insists it’s working here, a shining example for the rest of the world, but in some countries like Britain and Germany, they’ve declared multiculturalism a failure, a disastrous social policy that’s torn communities apart. But let’s be frank here. This debate isn’t so much about race as religion and a fear of one in particular – Islam.

Eye Spy
Have you ever wondered how it would feel to fly like a bird or to gallop with the wildebeest or hunt with the mighty polar bear? British film maker John Downer imagined all these things and found a way to let us all share in the experience. His wildlife documentaries make you feel like you’re actually there – a part of the flock, the herd or the pride. John gets closer to the animals than anyone else has dared. And as Bob Simon of American 60 Minutes discovered, he does it using technology that looks like it’s been lifted straight from a James Bond blockbuster. The result is an intimate portrayal of animals like we’ve never seen before.

Meltdown
How do you get your head around what is happening in Japan? First, there was the monster earthquake, many thousand times more powerful than the one that devastated Christchurch. Then came the tsunami. More than a week later, we still don’t know how many souls were carried away by the ocean, and now there’s the threat of a nuclear meltdown. Of all the miseries that have been visited on the Japanese people in recent days, this has to be the most terrifying. You can’t see it like a wave, or feel it like an aftershock. All you can do is wait and hope and try not to panic.

It airs 7:30pm Sunday on Nine.

  1. Mult-Culturalism is such a big fat Loser, all over the world. Only the countries with mono culture will end up with the prize. We will just end up like just another Failed Country of the British Empire. We were doing so well, until they took us down to the depths of a South America.

  2. So in the end the asylum seeker comments really have nothing to do with this story, or with the issue of multiculturalism for that matter. What people like Gary and Kenny fail to understand is that most migrants in this country come in through valid avenues and multi-culturalism comes out of that. It does not come from asylum seekers.

Not a great treatment from 60 minutes. Basically portray the fringe view of Islam then give a moderate a few seconds to try and put across the more common viewpoint. But then that wouldn’t bring the same ratings I suppose.

  3. It is often a mid life mental condition that people who were of no religion become fanatical when they become religious of any faith. So I take what he has to say like a grain of salt. Not important to me at all, just another nutter on our welfare system.

  4. I don’t get why that guy wants the whole population of Australia to be Muslim. It is absolutely absurd! Some of the footage i saw of the children being beaten in the classroom in England really hurt me. We, Muslims, Are Not like that. i know that there is a sect in Islam that follow these kinds of teachings and behaviour of violence, but they are the ones which have been mislead of what Islam is about. i wish journalists could interview the many Muslims who live in Australia, shoulder to shoulder with every other race or religion. I really hope people do not get scared of what they have seen because Australia is an example of successful multiculturalism. I barely ever see racism and prejudices unless it is conveyed through the media. And in a way, sometimes I feel that the media is encouraging the wrong-doers. So please, don’t judge every Muslims because of a few people’s POV’s on what Australia should be like. And please try to understand there are different sects in Islam which lead to different views, just as there are different sects in other religions where one may lead to violence, whereas the other leads to peace.
