GO! will air sports reality TV show The Ultimate Fighter from next Thursday, fast-tracked just hours after it has aired in the US.

The Ultimate Fighter: Team Lesnar Vs. Team Dos Santos sees unknown, professional martial artists living together in Las Vegas, and follows them as they train and compete against each other for a contract with the UFC.

Now in its thirteenth season, the new series of The Ultimate Fighter sees the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ and most compelling figure in all of combat sports – Brock Lesnar – lead a team of talented newcomers against a team lead by the sledgehammer-fisted Brazilian Junior Dos Santos.

The Ultimate Fighter: Team Lesnar Vs. Team Dos Santos documents the journey of these talented unsigned mixed martial artists, who will live and train together as they compete for a six-figure contract with the world’s leading combat sports organisation.

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Lesnar and current No1 contender Dos Santos will then face off inside the world famous Octagon(TM) at a later date in their final eliminator to face reigning UFC Champion Cain Velazquez.

Marshall Zelaznik, UFC Managing Director of International Development said: “We’re delighted to partner with GO! and to be able to air The Ultimate Fighter on free-to-air television in Australia literally hours after it airs in the US.

“UFC is just exploding in popularity in Australia. Our second live event in Sydney last month was the fastest sell-out in the Acer Arena’s history, with all 18,000 seats going in less than 22 minutes. Our Australian fans are amongst our most loyal worldwide and with our partnership with GO! more Aussie fans than ever will be able to watch what’s predicted to be one of the most exciting seasons of The Ultimate Fighter to date.”

It premieres Thursday, March 31st at 11.30pm on GO!

  1. Been watching this show since day one on Fox Sports and then Fuel and it’s great!

Absolute shame GO! has got hold of it as although fast tracked is superb, I’m sure we’ll face with irregular scheduling and possibly seeing it vanish all together.

Looks like a lot of us may be going elsewhere after a few weeks… will have to wait and see.

  2. This is devastating news. Fuel TV has done a great job with all of their MMA coverage over the years. There has never been any compromise.

I can understand where the UFC is coming from, getting this series on free to air TV is a good move for them. But One HD would have been a far better choice.

We all know how Channel 9 treats its viewers. Now I’ll be having to chase one of my favorite shows around their scheduling changes….

  3. @smiley_mick – i think the previous series have been on fuel tv on Foxtel.

We’ve watched many of the other series, and i’m quite glad they have moved away from the ‘reality’ of the house to more about the competition. There is only so many times you can watch a drunk guy doing something stupid because they have been separated from reality. Can’t wait for this!

    Go Junior!

  4. Best news I’ve seen today.
Have the previous seasons been on Pay TV?
I’m surprised One aren’t showing this to go with the rest of its coverage of the UFC.
