Bear Grylls in Sydney

The Man vs Wild star is in Australia, having filmed two episodes in the Northern Territory and Torres Straits.

It’s not quite the wilds of the South American jungles, but Bear Grylls is currently in Sydney.

Fittingly, the Man vs Wild star landed by chopper on the rooftop of the Park Hyatt for a Press Conference yesterday.

Grills is in Australia to launch a new series for the Discovery Channel, having filmed two episodes in the Northern Territory and Torres Straits.

But he has eyes on another parcel of the country.

The amazing thing about your country is that you kind of have it all,” he says.

“I’d love to do another program down in Tasmania … That would be one place remaining in Australia where I’d love to do a show.”

The adventurer will also make an appearance tonight at the Hillsong Church -a challenge almost surely requiring its own set of wits and dexterity.

But his first love is tackling the great outdoors.

“People expect because it’s TV you’re going to be safe but it’s not. We work in difficult places, with a small group of people who are dealing with this stuff everyday and you’ve got to get it right every time and I say it to the crew `you only get it wrong once’.”

The Australian episodes will premiere on Discovery Channel Wednesday March 9 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm (AEDT).
