Colin Lane new host of Ready Steady Cook

First it's The Circle, now comedian Colin Lane expands his presenting portfolio replacing Peter Everett on Ready Steady Cook.

Colin Lane has been announced as the new host of TEN’s Ready Steady Cook series.

The longtime comedy partner of Frank Woodley has most recently been a guest co-host on The Circle, filling in for Gorgi Coghlan who is on maternity leave.

“Having accepted the role of host I have only just realised that my job now involves eating incredible food every day” says Lane.

“I am very excited at the prospect of enjoying and learning about food and I’m looking forward to working with so many wonderful chefs and guests. This could be the best job in the world. Or, this could be the greatest increase in weight ever seen on TV. My 2011 television career might start with The Circle, lead into Ready Steady Cook and end with The Biggest Loser.”

Virginia Hodgson, executive producer, Southern Star Entertainment added, “Having Colin at the helm of Ready Steady Cook promises lots of fun and a bit of craziness in the kitchen along with great cooking and tips from Australia’s best chefs.”

Former host Peter Everett hosted Ready Steady Cook for five years, including landing a Logie nomination for the show -a rarity for a daytime series.

A TEN Spokesperson recently told TV Tonight the departure of Everett was a mutual decision, but another media report later noted the first he had heard of it was after learning of auditions behind the scenes.

Maria Michael, Executive Producer of Entertainment at TEN today said in a statement, “We wish Peter the best of luck with all his new adventures; he has been a great host over the years and has brought many new fans to the show. Colin is a wonderful addition to the Ready Steady Cook team, bringing a style and lightness to the show that is perfect for the year ahead.”

Lane begins filming in April and his first episode will air in mid-June.

Ready steady cook has lost the main ingredient to the show….without him it is bland and lacks interest….a big mistake was made removing the very colourful, bubbly character, from what is really just another cooking show. Good luck Peter for success in a different field. I will watch with interest where you may work next, as you bring humour into the lives of many.

  2. Peter Everett was a unique personality and a fantastic host of RSC. It was a huge shock to learn he had been replaced. As the saying goes, you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. No longer interested in the show, it’s just not the same without Pete. Ready Steady Cook is the Biggest Loser!

  3. I’ve turned off RSC because of Colin. Sooooo embarrassing with the fake European accents! The masks the crew were wearing were also highly embarrassing. No more. Pity about the sponsors whose products I won’t be purchasing.

  4. I have not watched ( & will not watch Ready Steady Cook again ) since the departure of Peter Everett.
    Show not the same.Colin Lane just doesn’t have the Peter personality.
    Channel 10 get Peter back.You have made a big mistake.

  5. I really like the show RSC and learn alot from it as well as getting plenty of laughs with Pete Everitt. Who in their right mind got rid of Pete and replaced him with Colin Lane! Boring, boring, boring and above all Annoying. Bring Pete back – Not a happy viewer. Colin totally turns you off the show 🙁

  6. BTW I can’t remember the last time I managed to watch a full hour with Lane as host.
    I have seen him on many shows as a guest and he was terrible then too. Isn’t it enough we had to endure him on Thank God You’re Here, Spicks and Specks and GNW.

  7. I had the displeasure of watching RSC today because frankly Days wasn’t on. I can’t believe they replaced Peter Everett with Colin Lane who is practically just a poor imitation of Everett.
    I’ve watched this show from the beginning when Nick Stratford used to host (best host they had). I didn’t love Everett to begin with but he grew on me after 5 years.
    Colin Lane has no hope of winning me over, I hated him filling in on the circle and I hate him on ready steady.
    The chefs are all so much more confident and comfortable than Lane, he really looks like an amateur while hosting.

  9. Bring Pete back this program has lost its flair! How boring they have made such a good show that Peter presented it to be.
    If you missed one show you would kick yourself now I watch about 5mins then switch channels.

  10. I was so sorry to hear about Matt. My sympathy goes to you Matt and I hope you are well soon. Get back on the show as quickly as possible Matt because we will miss your smiling happy face.

  11. I have watched and loved RSC for years. Today I heard the tragic news about Matt Gulinski and his family. How sad!! I would like to offer my prayers and thoughts for him and his recovery. I hope everyone who loves RSC will add their prayers to mine.

  12. I have just returned from a lengthy overseas trip. I was surprised today to tune into RSC and see Colin Lane hosting the show. I went straight to the internet and learned the sad news that Peter Everett had been replace. As many others have said, Colin is just another presenter, while Peter was a breath of fresh air. He and the camaraderie with the chefs and guests made the show.

    Now I no longer need to set aside the RSC hour every weekday afternoon. Not happy.

  13. Can we have repeats of Pete and get rid of Colin lane. Every the first host of ready steady cook would be good. We have enough ofColin Lane to last a lifetime.

    Lano & Woodley – he wasn’t the funny one. He ruined the circle when he was on it. He was terrible on good news week when on. Wow. Goodbye ready steady cook. Gave him many tries but still can’t stand him. Way to ruin a great show channel ten. What were you thinking. So So Bad!!!!!!!! Sad!!!!

  15. I agree that Colin Lane is annoying. He is not funny. Watch Robin Williams for 10 minutes and you will see what funny is. He just pulls funny faces and is always trying to get the attention. He tries to take over everything. He spoilt our watching of the Circle as he just tries to take over everything and tries unsuccessfully to be funny. I suppose he is well suited to “Ready Steady Cook” as it is not going to get any awards for great television. Cant believe he ever had a career in comedy.

  16. I agree with all the comments made. Peter Everett could be annoying at times But this guy is All the time. Forever looking at the camera, making stupid comments,AGH. Bring back Peter ASAP. don’t watch the show anymore, what have you done to an informative,good show ,channel 10.

  17. I watched the show for two reasons – Manu and Pete. now with Both gone, I’m no longer interested. Especially with Colin Lane hosting. He’s dull, you can tell he’s not interested. Bring Peter back.

  20. OMG………. what have you done to this show Chanel 10, I still love the guests and chefs but the Host?? Are you serious?? I think he is trying to copy Peter, but doing a bad job at it, and at times very inappropriate. I had to change the chanel!! I’ll be watching Dr Oz from now on.

    Chanel 10 you have stuffed up……apologise to Pete and bring him back, he was a natural!!

  21. I stopped watching Ready Set Cook when Peter left.
    Today I tried to watch it again but the show is not the same.
    It has lost it’s appeal and I will Not try watching it again.

    If you read this Peter, know that you are being missed.

  22. We have had star signs and maps, Moustaches, and AFL footballers who play midfield position does not exist. This is a cooking show, we do not want to hear about Colin’s star signs. The chefs are great can’t we see them cooking and using the sponsors ingredients. Nothing against Colin but he is not a foodie. If we can’t have Peter back get Maggie or Simon or someone that knows about food. We are just about to turn off for good.

  23. I stopped watching it when they replaced Nick Stratford with that simpering idiot Everett. I might start again now – but from many of the comments, hard to believe as it is, Lane is even worse than Everett. Bring back Nick – he didn’t try to steal the show from the chefs and guests nor was he constantly irritating.

  24. Who is this new clown that Channel 10 has got hosting Ready, Steady Cook? He is annoying, annoying, annoying and most of his comments are most inappropriate. Like this afternoon for example when he spoke about Kylie Minogue being “butt naked” in a steam room. REally???? He is not funny, just obnoxious. Get rid of this fool. Surely, there are better moderators for a show like this? What about a female, or is that not appropriate for a cooking show??
