Next month the History Channel will screen a locally produced documentary on the 1951 Battle of Kapyong.

It marks the 60th Anniversary of the three-day battle when an outnumbered United Nations force prevented a large Chinese attack from reaching the South Korean capital of Seoul.

The aim of the offensive was to finally drive the foreign troops out of South Korea and into the sea. What happened instead, changed the history of the Korean War.

Thirty-four Anzacs, 10 Canadians, three Americans and more than 1000 opposing Chinese soldiers died in the bloody fight.

Dennis K. Smith is Writer/Director of this documentary which filmed key battle scenes at Anakie, outside Geelong, which was also the site of The Pacific.

Filming has also taken place in Canada, Taiwan and the United States.

It screens on the History Channel on April 23rd.
