A number of readers have been asking about tonight’s ICC World Cup Cricket quarter-final between Australia and India at Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad, India. So here are the times once again, with some extra info.
In India the game begins at 8pm AEDT but won’t begin until 10:30pm in Melbourne when it picks up the game live. Nine then rolls out live coverage in all cities but due to different time zones it means it picks up at different stages of the game. Perth viewers will see the least, just 2.5 hours of play.
Melbourne 10:30pm
Adelaide 10:30pm
Sydney 11:00pm
Brisbane: 11:00pm
Perth: 10:30pm
Australia, the reigning champions, lost their first World Cup match since 1999 in going down to Pakistan by four wickets on Saturday. A strong bowling performance from Pakistan restricted Australia’s total to 176 runs, with Brad Haddin top scoring with 42.
Australia now face an enormous challenge to stay in the tournament against an Indian side bristling with batting power – led by superstar openers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. Pressure is mounting on Ricky Ponting to bounce back to form against a bowling attack featuring his nemesis Harbhajan Singh, the world’s best off-spinner.
Should Australia win they will confront the winner of the Pakistan and West Indies quarter-final on Wednesday, March 30.

The World Cup finals is going to start at 11:50 p.m. tomorrow. Do guys in Channel Nine have some common sense prevail ?

Channel 9 is useless. It is the friggin world cup for heavens sake. I love SBS, the way the handle the soccer world cup is amazing, it doesnt matter if Australia is playing or not they cover all the games. these monkeys at channel nine should be really given a firm hard kick in the pants… what was televised instead of the cricket, well in melbourne anyway “embarrasing bodies” or some crap like that.. Nine you are a bunch of turkeys.
hi everyone..crappy 9 is not showing the semi final between india vs pakistan….if they are after ratings..they would have gone thru roof..as no one is going to miss this match whateva happens..now dun say crappy nine only showed australia’z matches only..the quarter final between india vs aus ,dat was so important ,dumbo 9 did not even showed dat fully..yeh u r right @steven..a drunk monkey is there at channel 9 ..i would criticize 9 at every space or platform i get so they shud get a reality check

I am a cocunut aussie meaning. I look Indian but mentally I am aussie. I can’t believe Channel 9. I can’t believe Channel 9 could be so dismissing of hundreds of thousands of aussie fans in this country by not showing the important matches atleast from start to finish live. There seems to be a view that aussies are only interested in watching matches that Australia participates which is totally untrue and channel 9 for a long time have been perpetuating this myth by only showing these matches.
What about the hundreds of thousands of Indian, Pakistani, New Zealanders who have called Australia home and are cricket loving. Doesn’t channel 9 care about them? Whoever is incharge of programming at Channel is dumb just like the many ads we see in this country with no imagination. The whole TV industry needs an overhaul. they seem to prefer some trashing American reality or sitcom over what is important for this nation. Shame on you Channel 9.
I also think channel is trying to have best of both worlds by trying to keep crickets fans happy and also fan of all the crapy programs they broadcast by showing a bit of cricket and not much more.
Nine does have ICC Sir Lanka v NZ later tonight.
It seems the viewers have spoken. Even the cricket would have rated better than MDD / The Footy Show (in NRL states)

At least I’m at my folks tonight watching live on Fox. Its a disgrace, likewise with One HD delaying the AFL into Perth tonight so it can be on the same time as 10 at 8:30pm. Even Sydney and Brisbane get it live on One HD tonight! I honestly don’t understand the use of digital channels now that the rules with Sport had changed before Christmas!! Nine would had done ok with it live tonight, if it was competing with delayed AFL in some States!
Just one question David when is the AFL going to reach an agreement on the new tv rights. I thought that it would have been resolved before the start of the season which is tonight. Also why is it that eastern states get the match Live and SA & WA have to put up with delayed coverage on ONE HD.

Channel 9 should be removed from the system either that or let 7 or 10 have all the sports
Looks like 9 are trying to make the AFL happy by not reducing their ratings in having to go up against WC Cricket.
Someone needs to look into 9’s real motives behind this move.

Nine in Melbourne would never show any sport against the AFL., live or delayed.. they’re desperate to kiss the league’s a*se so they can get the rights back next year

I understand that Brisbane gets it Very late at 11pm due to a live (I think) footy show broadcast in QLD (I think thats the reason), but seriously, we are only in the second week of NRL and there would be plenty more ‘live’ footy shows to broadcast in QLD this whole year!! Surely coming towards the end of a ‘World Cup’ is more important than 2nd week into the season NRL?! Bah!!!!
They will probably do the same for the semi’s and the finals (If Australia even make it!)
Seems odd that Nine can’t show the whole quarterfinal, when they were showed every ball of the NZ, Sri Lanka and Pakistan group games. Seems Thursday night ratings are too precious to them – what else could the reason be? I’ll be laughing hard if the AFL numbers are down a little bit because cricket loving AFL fans are watching the game on fox instead.
9, once again you suck. The game will be almost half over before the coverage starts. Wasn’t shis sort of stuff supposed to stop when the multi’s started or is Eddy’s dumb ass lowest common denominator game show much more important, someone might win a million, please get me a bucket !!
I hope One gets the cricket rights in the near the future and broadcasts these matches live from start to finish and kicks your ass with them.
