Nine invites you to the Royal Wedding

Today, Nine News and A Current Affair will be broadcasting from London for the Royal Wedding - but is Kerri-Anne off the invite list?

As previously reported, Nine has big plans for the wedding of William and Kate, promising coverage across several of its shows.

From Monday April 25 through until the wedding on Friday April 29, the Today team, Nine News and A Current Affair will be broadcasting a special week of shows and crosses live from London.

Then on Friday April 29 at 7pm, Nine will present The Royal Wedding Live: A Special Presentation, hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson.

Earlier reports had suggested Kerri-Anne would also broadcast from London, but in the latest information from Nine it appears she may have been left off their invite list.

The Royal Wedding takes place outside of the ratings survey.

  1. I don’t profess to be an expert on the monarchy; far from it. However, it is reasonable to expect those commentating on the Royal Wedding to at least have an understanding of what they’re commentating about; which Lisa and Carl obviously didn’t. They clearly demonstrated minimal knowledge of the monarchy and related protocols as evidenced by James Whitaker’s numerous corrections of their commentary. Such a shame that his professional and knowledgeable input was interspersed with ongoing feeble and at times inappropriate attempts at humor by other members of the commentary team who came across as largely uninformed. I sincerely hope that the commentary on other local networks was of a higher standard, which in hindsight, should have been relatively easy to achieve.

  2. I am a fan of Karl and Lisa, I watch the today show every morning and 9 was my number 1 choice for the wedding coverage. But, after 15 minutes of listening to the fictional rubbish from Dame Edna I crossed to channel 7, I have spoken to many people who thought the same. Next time keep it classy with no Dame Edna!!!

  3. Channel 9’s coverage of the wedding was so bad it was embarassing! Karl and Lisa were clueless and made one gaff after another. You would think that they might have researched their facts before covering such an event, but to suggest that the honeymoon might be on the Royal Yacht which was decommissioned many years ago is just beyond ignorant. And even my 6 year old knows that a Duchess ranks higher than a Princess so to hear Lisa prattling on and on about it was cringe making! As for Kathy Lette – she adds no value, paints us as a country of convicts who call everyone “mate” and dresses like mutton done up as lamb. Surely 9 could have found someone with a bit more class. Note – someone suggest to Ita that she ease up on the botox so that she can actually express herself. As for what they wore on TV….let’s not even go there….finally if Karl seriously thinks he is Gold Logie material he is deluding himself.

  4. Sorry 9 – I like Karl & Lisa and 9 was my preferred choice, but the awful, unfunny, overpowering Dame Edna lost me! So painfully embarrasing to watch that I switched to 7 and really enjoyed the telecast. Wonder how many others did the same?

  5. Channel 9 commited a very rudeand ignorant thing by cutting the Wedding Ceremony off before William and Kate were even pronounced to be “man and wife” How extremely rude. Surely football could have waited another hour considering we have an event like a Royal Wedding once in a blue moon. “See it first on Nine”. I don’t think so .They should say don’t see it at all on nine.

  6. Channel Nine commentary team was woeful last night!!Too much “trying to be funny”Dame Edna needs to Retire!! Karl & team were dreadful.
    Switched to 7 with a much classier audible commentary, they won hands down!

  7. I was enjoying 9’s coverage, until they left the wedding to go to the NRL. Now I realise 9 has responsibility to broadcast Friday night football but it’s a bit like stopping a movie at the climax. Only half a job was done! Lette and Buttrose offered nothing- Lette a strange choice.

  8. Chanel 7 won hands down. They outclassed 9 on every front . The 9 “girls” make up was overdone, the fashions awful, Ita ( and I’m a fan) looked like her face was frozen, Katty Lette a pain and Dame Edna not funny. Perhaps you should try and poach Chris Barr”s stylist and hair and make up artist.

  13. fantastic – cant wait. I am sure Ita,Trace, Karl and Lisa will do an awesome job. Pity about Ms Lette (she is a pain).

  14. Would much rather see such an outrageous amount of money spent on the homeless in Japan or cancer research rather than wasting it on two very ordinary people who offer the world nothing. UK has produced some great comedies over the years and these include Fawlty Towers and the Royal Family.

  15. I can’t wait to watch it and Karl & Lisa will and some interest and humour. I am very happy that it’s on the main channel at a good time. Well done nine & Karl for Gold!

  16. I will be on holiday in Vietnam but if it is showing there I will watch it but just in case it is not my husband will have to set up the recorder so that I can sit and watch it on my return from holiday

  19. Ita Buttrose is always working for Channel Nine covering The Royal Wedding,She will add some class to the coverage.Wish Karl wasnt going to be there,cant stand him he is a fool.

  21. It should give Nine some of the nights and go close for the week ratings-wise. Perhaps they could try to keep those numbers by showing some of the new content they’ve been hoarding.
