And here is your first look at Ita Buttrose meeting Kerry Packer in ABC1’s forthcoming Aussie miniseries on the birth of Cleo magazine, Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo.
Asher Keddie plays a 30 year old Buttrose, who in 1972 was given the charge of the new women’s magazine by a 35 year old Kerry Packer, heir to Australia’s most powerful publishing company.
Packer is played by Rob Carlton (Chandon Pictures). In this scene Packer has been firing some of his staff, after his father Sir Frank Packer had just sold the Daily Telegraph to Rupert Murdoch.
The 2 part miniseries will air on ABC1 at 8:30pm Sunday and Monday April 17 /18.

Only saw the 2nd night thought it was visually beautiful and enyoying to watch – I happen to love Ita’s lisp – it was fantastic would love it to be shown again.
This looks and sounds like a wonderful comedy!!!! That fake lisp is just too much!!! I was in tears of laughter just watching this snippet from the show!!! Watching this whole “dramatic” mini series….. I’d be rolling around in a fit!!!! Never seen anything so laughable!!
Asher is the best, I love her. So pretty and such a talent – will watch this!
Keddie has Ita down pat… Carlton juuust isn’t there.
I’ve been waiting So long to see this!!
They are both amazing! Can’t wait for this – love that she is doing the lisp – quite a challenge!
Looks good will try and watch.
i can’t wait for this. i’m studying design, and would love to work in a magazine. very interested in this mini series. thanks for the heads up david.
It actually looks watchable.
That looks fantastic. I said it before, Carlton is superb. Keddie’s really good, too. Will def be watching.
This is pretty fair acting and very good impersonation.
Is Cleo the mag wherein Jack Thompson dropped his strides to be the first ever wedding-tackle-out male centrefold?
At any rate this should be a fairly interesting miniseries, so I’ll be tuning in.
Love Asher Keddie; Carlton is remarkably like Packer, too. Should be good.
Fantastic – can’t wait to see it.
Can’t wait.
The preview looks brilliant !
Really looking forward to this. Love Asher Keddie.
Asher is my favourite actress, but that lisp is gonna be the death of me!
Looking forward to this…. But not the lisp!
